His thesis states how Wiesel uses empathy, credibility, and factual evidence in his speech. It is clearly worded, and provides a good foundation for the rest of the essay. 2. Content How clearly are the body paragraphs related to the essay’s thesis? Every body paragraph responds to the thesis, and does a great job analyzing the strategies brought up in his thesis. Which topic sentences could be more focused? I think that all of your topic sentences are clearly focused around your thesis statement. Does the writer use examples from their rhetorical text to illustrate his/her Points? What about other examples? Yes, he used quotes from the speech and incorporated them into his paper to display his point. You didn’t really use any outside information though. Where could the writer use more detail? There is sufficient amount of detail provided in the body paragraphs. You did a great job explaining your points. Is the essay organized – that is, can you follow the writer’s ideas? Does the essay need transitions? Your essay is very well organized. You had very nice transitions.
3. Conclusion Is there a conclusion? Yes, the conclusions was clear and does a good job of wrapping up the essay.
4. Assignment Requirements Does the essay meet the minimum requirements for length? I think it could be maybe just a tad bit longer. Does the essay meet MLA guidelines for spacing, heading, and a works cited page? Yes, you followed all the MLA guidelines. Although you forgot to include a works cited page.
Comments: Which parts of the essay are especially clear or stand out for you, the reader? I thought that your explanation of why he is a credible source was very interesting. What questions do you have that are not answered in the essay? You could probably reiterate the speeches purpose in your conclusion just a little more clearly.
