Part A

Memory Recall Questions

Answer 10 MCQ Questions using Edhitch platform. Each question carries One mark.
(10Qx1M=10M)

Part B

Thought Provoking Questions

Answer any Two Questions. Each question carries Ten marks. (2Qx10M=20)

Q1. Identify the problem and explain the solution:

During water-flooding operation in a reservoir, it was observed that water breakthrough occurred much
earlier than what it was predicted. It was also observed that the recovery of oil was also very low. A
tracer test was conducted in order to find out the location of water-front. The result came that a large
portion of the reservoir was still not swept by water. How is it possible?

Q2. Identify the problem and explain the solution:
A newly recruited reservoir engineer was asked to design a water-flooding plan. He went through the
geology and finally decided to flood the reservoir from the top of the titled formation. He kept also kept
the water rate too low. In the end, it was observed that the water wasn’t pushing the oil phase and
moved in opposite direction. Why it happened?

Problem Solving Questions
Answer the Question. The question carries Ten marks. (1Qx10M=10)

Q.5 Find fractional flow of water, fw, in a reservoir with the following properties:
Dip Angle: XXX°
kro/krw = 1.XXX
kro = 0.21
ρo = 45 lb/ft3
ρw = 64.0 lb/ft3
k = 50 md
iw = 1000 bbl/day
μw = 1 cp
A = 20000 ft2
(XXX is the last 3 digits of your ID Number. For e.g., if your ID Number ends with 007, then dip angle
is 007°. Capillary pressure gradient is neglected)
