1 INTRODUCTION

Ministry of Energy (MOE) of Republic of Armenia has planned, inside a wider program of develop of
production of Energy in the Country, to improve the total efficiency of the existing power plant by replacing
the older and lower efficient power units with the most modern steam gas combined cycle power generation
technology.
To partially reduce the gap between the offer and demand of electric Energy foreseen in the Republic of
Armenia for the next years, the MOE has signed for the construction of a new 250 MW (nominal) combined
cycle type power plant, gas fired, to be built on the clean and empty field adjacent to the existing YCCPP-1,
in the vicinity of Yerevan city.

1.1 DEFINITIONS
For the purpose of this specification the following definition shall apply:
 PROJECT YCCPP2 : 250 MW COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT
 COMPANY ARMPOWER CJSC, a company incorporated under the Armenian
Law
 CONTRACTOR Renco SPA
 Contract Contract agreement entered between Company and EPC
Contractor for the execution of the Work
 Work The detail design, procurement, manufacturing and transportation,
installation, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-
up and performance test of YCCPP2, inclusive of any other activity
and service required to achieve the operation of the Project.
 EPC Engineering, Procurement and Construction activities, nominally all
the necessary activities to execute and complete the Work with
best quality and following all HSE contractual requirement
 Site means the lands, waters and other places on, under, in or through
which the Works are to be performed
 Best Quality Designed or purchased to meet contractual requirements
 Supply: Equipment, material and/or services included in the Work.
 Supplier: Party which supplies equipment, material and/or services of the
Work, according to the documents specified by Company.
 Shall: Use of the word “shall” implies a mandatory requirement, which
can be relaxed only with the written confirmation by Company.
 Should: The use of the word “should” implies a recommendation based
upon the judgment of experienced people within the Company

1.2 SITE LOCATION

The new 250MW Yerevan Combined Cycle Power Plant (“YCCPP2”) will be located in the vicinity of Yerevan
city, in the area adjacent (on the west side lot) to the existing Yerevan CCPP-1, currently managed by the
Yerevan TPP CJSC.

1.3 THE PROJECT

The YCCPP2 Project consists of a nominal 250MW power output power plant, combined cycle as per latest
state-of-the art, located in the vicinities of the existing power plant sharing some of the utilities and facilities
necessary for its operation. The power output will be assured by a single gas turbine driven electric
generator train, which flue gas will be used to produce high pressure stem for additional power recovery
through a steam turbine driven electric generator. The Project will be designed for more efficient operation
and for higher reliability and availability.

Joining Methods of PE Pipes

Etectrofusion Welding
E[ectrofusion welding process of polyethylene pipes are carried out
pursuant to internationaI standard such as DVS 2207. Welding is
carried out with heating resistors at the muff section in electrofusion
welding method. After placing the pipes into the muff, ends of the
welding machine are connected to the heating element ends of the
Coupler inside the hole and heating elements are heated by
current.
Since wall thickness of the Coupler is thicker than the wall thickness
of the pipe, temperature of the pipe wall is higher than the
temperature of Coupler wall, Pressure is generated inside the pipe
due to this temperature difference. Fusion is reaLized with the
pressure on the pipe and pressure generated in the pipe.
Eiectrofusion welding machines used for welding process are Light
and they also ensure welding with variable welding parameters or
usage of information documents of the Performed welds.

. Pipes made of same rawmaterial can be weIded in electrofusion

welding process.
. Melting ftowrate is at the range of 0.2-1.ag110 min. ['190"C/5 kg)
for HDPE-etectrofusion welding. Melting ftowrate of pipes and
couplers to be welded shall be between these values. Pipes with
identical melting flowrate can be welded.
. Welding area shall be protected against adverse weather
condtttons( for instance: Snow, rain, wind and strong sun rays etc)
. Temperature of the welding environment shall be between 5°C
and 50°C.
. Electrofusion welding machines generally bear barcode scanners
and etectrofusion fiitings contain barcodes which indicate welding
parameters. Welding parameters are loaded to the machine through
the barcode and welding parameters inscribed on the fitting can

be loaded manualty to the welding machine for welding.

Welding Parameters
Latest welding machines have barcode Scanners attached to them.
Welding parameters of EF fitting to be welded are inscribed as a
barcode or attached on the Coupler or contained in the package.
