Guidelines for Presentation

 Presentations will be covered in two sessions. Six groups will present on Wednesday, 6 th May
2020 during class time, and the remaining nine groups on Friday, 8 th May 2020. The time for
presentations on Friday will be communicated later.

 All groups must upload their slides on LMS by 11:00 AM on Wednesday 6 th May along with
the assignment. No changes to the slides will be accepted after submission.

 Anyone from a group can be asked to present (one or more), and the presenter’s points will
be the entire group’s points.

 The presentation should cover the major work you have done on the main argument(s) in
the assignment except the evaluation part. The presentation should start with a summary of
the article you have been assigned ensuring that it captures the entire idea succinctly and
faithfully. You should then focus on how you identified the main conclusion, the main
premises, and the supporting premises for the main premises (up to the first sub-argument
level). Explain how you came up with the diagram and present the standardised versions (up
to the first sub-argument level). Identify the type of arguments (deductive or inductive), and
validity, strength and weakness (whichever is relevant). If any fallacies are identified, they
too should form part of the presentation.

 If any group feels that a particular group member has not worked on the assignment, and
would therefore not be able to do well in the presentation, it should be brought to the
instructor’s notice before the presentation day. No plea will be accepted afterwards, and the
points assigned to the group will be final.

 Questions put to the presenter group by students will be marked as CP based on the quality
of the questions. Quality of responses to questions will also contribute to the group’s total
points.

 The duration of each presentation should be no less than 10 minutes and no more than 12
minutes. If you overshoot, points will be deducted. In addition to the time for the
presentation, 3 to 5 minutes will be for questions and answers.

 Make sure that you follow the scoring rubric for preparing your presentations.

 Out of a total of 30% allocated for the assignment, 5% will be for presentation.

 If anything is unclear, please send your queries to the TAs, and make sure that everything is
well-understood before the presentations.
