Short Term & Long Term Goals

My short term goal is to enroll as a first-generation college student and pursue a Bachelor

of Arts degree in Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Earning a degree in

this field will introduce me to the basis of political theory and political behavior, which will

equip me with enhanced critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills. After graduating

with my B.A. in Political Science, I plan to pursue a Juris Doctor degree in law school, which

will then initiate my journey to becoming a Civil Rights Attorney in the State of California.

Before attending law school, I plan to apply to multiple internships during my

undergraduate education to gain additional experience in the field. I hope to work alongside

accomplished lawyers to further understand the duties and responsibilities of their occupation, as

well as their lifestyle. I also plan to be a part of helpful programs like the Pre-Law Society at UC

Berkeley to gain resources and additional help to study for the LSAT examination, which is an

essential exam needed for admissions into law schools. After graduating from the University of

California Berkeley with a Political Science major, I plan to pursue a Juris Doctor degree and

begin my occupation in the legal field.

My long term goal is to serve as a voice for individuals who are unrepresented and

advocate for equality and social freedom. I will fight to bring justice to victims of discrimination,

harassment, hate crimes, police misconduct and brutality, racial profiling, etc. I will also make it

my duty to ensure that if the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution is violated by any

industry, group, or individual, justice is brought to the victim(s). Pursuing a career in the legal

field will allow me to carry on the legacy that Civil Rights Activists like Cesar Chavez and

Martin Luther King Jr. of the 1960s, left behind for us to honor and protect.

I plan to continue to demonstrate my work ethic and diligence while pursuing my degree

as both an undergraduate and graduate student. I will battle and fight to overcome any adversity I

may face in the future. I will seek to achieve both my short term and long term goals of earning a

Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, a Juris Doctor Degree, becoming a Civil Rights Attorney

in California while advocating for social freedom and equality, and eventually starting a family.
