TITLE:
Improved software for certain CAT Branded telehandlers is now available, and can be
uploaded during next service intervention.

DESCRIPTION:
The following software release is now available through the CAT Alliance Website.

UGM Software version p3.6

Main enhancements:
 Version P3.6 is the latest software revision for the Cat branded TH telehandler.
The software is fully compatible for both pre and EN15000 compliant machines.
 Personality settings for the bucket tilt mode are now fully adjustable to
accommodate individual customer requirements. Adjusted is permitted via
access level 2.
 The adjustable mA range for several personalities has been enlarged.
Refer to installation instruction mentioned below.

SOFTWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE

HARDWARE REQUIRED
To use the Software Update application, the following hardware is required:

1. Communications cable serial 330-5253.


2. Windows-based computer with serial port.
3. If required, USB to Serial adapter 237-7547.

SOFTWARE REQUIRED
To successfully update the machine software of the UGM, the following software application needs to be
downloaded from Caterpillar Alliance Hotlink (which you can enter via SIS-web  CAT BRANDED
TELEHANDLERS). Link: http://onlineexpress2.jlg.com/catole/home.aspx
Select EAME/APD from pull down menu. Select “MODEL” and than select menu “SOFTWARE & FLASH
FILES” and than “UGM Software”. You will be transferred to the downloading box.

PROCEDURE SOFTWARE UPDATE


Step 1. Connecting
1. Refer to Illustration 1.Connect the Communication Cable (P/N 330-5253) to machine connector
and computer.

2. Turn on computer.
3. Turn key on machine to “on” position.
4. Refer to Illustration 2. Open Software application.

5. Refer to Illustration 3. Wait until new screen appears.

6. Press “ Program CAT TH Series Telehandler Version P3.6”,
7. Refer to Illustration 4. New box pop-ups, click on “Yes”.

8. Refer to Illustration 5. Application starts to erase old software version.

9. Refer to Illustration 6. After erasing the application will start to program the UGM with the new
software version.
NOTE: During programming, you will hear a continuously beep sound.

10. Refer to Illustration 7. When software update was successfully following message should be
visible.

STEPS TO BE COMPLETED AFTER SOFTWARE UPDATE

11. After programming be completed, the continuously beep will be still on.
12. Turn key on machine to “off” position, wait for 5 second and turn to ‘ON’ position.
13. One test beep will sound; Machine software has now been updated.
14. Test machine for proper functioning.
