MATCHING COUCHES,
CHAIRS, CABINETS,
PLANTS, AND THEIR
DIRECT OPPOSING
SIDE PLACEMENT.
ASYMMETRICAL BALANCE

ASYMMETRICAL BALANCE IS
SEEN IN THIS LIVING ROOM
THROUGH THE SEATING AND
SHELF DECOR. EVEN THOUGH
THE DECOR VARIES WITHIN
THE SHELVES IT IS STILL
BALANCED. THE CHAIRS AND
COUCH ALSO SHOW
ASYMMETRICAL BALANCE.
RADIAL BALANCE

RADIAL BALANCE IS PERFECTLY


REPRESENTED IN THIS SPACE. THE ROUND
COFFEE TABLE AND CHANDELIER ARE THE
CENTERPOINT OF THE ROOM AND
EVERYTHING IS BUILT AROUND THEM.
RHYTHM - REPETITION

REPETITION CAN BE SEEN IN THIS


SPACE THROUGH ALMOST EVERY
ASPECT OF THE DESIGN. THE LOUNGE
CHAIRS, PLANTS, LIGHTS, AND CARPET
PATTERN ALL SHOW REPETITION AS
THEY ARE EACH USED MULTIPLE TIMES
IN A EVENLY SPACED, CONSISTENT
MATTER.
RHYTHM - PROGRESSION

PROGRESSION IS REPRESENTED IN THIS


SPACE BY THE DESIGN OF THE WALL. THE
PIXELS VARY IN COLOR, SIZE, AND
PLACEMENT, YET STILL FLOW WELL AND
COME TOGETHER AS AN ENTIRE PIECE.
RHYTHM - TRANSITION

TRANSITION IS CREATED BY THE


STAIRCASE, IT ALLOCATES FOR ONE TO GO
UP OR DOWN, MAKING A TRANSITION.
THE CURVE OF THE STAIRCASE ALSO
MESHES WELL WITH THE CURVED ARCHES
IN THE HALLWAY.
RHYTHM - OPPOSITION

OPPOSITION IS CREATED IN THIS


LIVING ROOM IN MANY WAYS.
THERE IS OPPOSITION BETWEEN
THE COLORS BLACK AND WHITE.
THERE ARE A LOT OF 90 DEGREE
ANGLES SEEN THROUGHOUT THIS
ROOM AS WELL, PERFECTLY
DEMONSTRATING OPPOSITION
ARE THE LOVE SEAT AND THE
SOFA. THE SPACE BETWEEN THEM
CREATES A 90 DEGREE ANGLE.
EMPHASIS

EMPHASIS IN THIS LIVING ROOM IS


PLACED ON THE FIREPLACE AS IT IS AN
EXTREMELY GRAND PIECE. IT IS THE ITEM
WITH THE DARKEST COLOR IN THE ROOM
AND THE TALLEST, MAKING EYES DRAW
TO IT IMMEDIATELY.

HARMONY IS RADIATING
THROUGHOUT THIS SUNROOM. IT
LOOKS LIKE THE PERFECT ROOM TO
RELAX AND REJUVENATE IN. THE
COLORS ARE CALM AND GO WELL
WITH THE BEAUTIFUL OCEAN THAT
SURROUNDS. ALL THE ASPECTS OF
THIS ROOM CREATE HARMONY, THIS
IS A SPACE I WOULD LOVE TO BE IN.

OPEN SPACE

THE OPEN SPACE IN THIS KITCHEN


IS REPRESENTED BY THE HIGH
CEILING, SPACE BETWEEN OBJECTS,
AND THE ORGANIZATION OF
OBJECTS. AN IMPRESSION OF A
CLEAN ENVIRONMENT IS CREATED
THROUGH THE PROPER
ARTICULATION OF OPEN SPACE.
CLOSED SPACE

THE COZINESS OF THIS LIVING


ROOM IS CREATED THROUGH THE
PROPER USAGE OF CLOSED SPACE.
IT DOES NOT COME OFF AS
CLUTTERED, BUT RATHER
STRATEGICALLY PLACED FOR
COMFORT AND EASY ACCESS. THE
DARK COLOR SCHEME ALSO ADDS
TO THE SPACE BY MAKING IT SEEM
SMALLER AND MORE CLOSED OFF.
INTERESTING SHAPE

THERE ARE TWO INTERESTING SHAPES


WITHIN THIS BATHING ROOM. THE USE OF
AN INTERESTING SHAPE CHANGES THE
ENTIRE LOOK OF THE SPACE WHEN
COMPARING TO THE POSSIBLE USAGE A
SOLID COLOR. BOTH THE TILE AND
BACKSPLASH OF THE ROOM ARE
INTERESTING SHAPES AND POSSESS A
LEVEL OF ABSTRACTION THAT MAKES THE
VIEWER DO A DOUBLE TAKE.

FORMS. UNCOMMON TO THE

HEAVY MASS IS SHOWN IN THIS


ROOM THROUGH THE USE OF BULKY
FURNITURE AND DECOR. THE
‘HEAVINESS’ IS WELL REPRESENTED
BY THE LIGHT FIXTURE, THE WAY IT
HANGS LOOKS HEAVY. THE ROOM IS
FILLED WITH LARGE PILLOWS AND
BULKY BLANKETS CREATING THE
ELEMENT OF HEAVY MASS.
VERTICAL LINE

THE VERTICAL LINES IN THIS SPACE ARE


REPRESENTED BY THE WOOD PANELS
ALIGNED ALONG THE WALL. THE USE OF
VERTICAL LINES ELONGATES A ROOM AND
MAKES IT SEEM MORE SPACIOUS BY
SEEMINGLY CREATING MORE HEIGHT TO
SURROUNDING AREAS.
HORIZONTAL LINE

THE USE OF THE HORIZONTAL LINE IN THIS


LIVING ROOM CREATES THE IMAGE OF A
MORE SPACIOUS AREA REGARDING THE
STRETCH OF THE WALL. THESE WOODEN
PANELS PERSUADE THE EYES TO LAY
DOWN AND RELAX IN THE SAME

UNIQUELY SHAPED AND CREATES
REMARKABLE PILLARS AND CEILINGS. THE

THROUGHOUT THIS SPACE. THE WALL IS
THE MOST GRANDLY REPRESENTED
ROUGH TEXTURE BUT IT CAN ALSO BE
SEEN ON THE WOODEN COFFEE TABLES,
AS WELL AS THE VERTICAL METAL BARS
ALIGNED AGAINST THE WINDOW.
OVERALL THIS ROOM HAS A DARK,
CAVE-LIKE APPEARANCE.
