A Typical Finnish Winter Day, a poem by Paavo

The *cottage lies on the steep cliff, A

While is surrounded by green trees, B
The lake, controlled by a light breeze, B
But the chalet stays yet so stiff. A

A small, black, wood hut near the home, C

Is piping hot where people rest, D
The winter climate at its best, D
At peace, a marvel to behold. C

The people start to disappear, E

No more sign of them talking cant, F
No more sign of obnoxious chant, F
No more sign of a type of cheer. E

A whisper is heard from the lake, G

It stays settled, lest one shows up, H
To not reveal it’s cover-up, H
And make the other ones awake. G

The abbey nearby, topped with snow, I

Is as dark as the dark, night sky, J
Made of white marble that is dry, J
Reflects the ground that starts to glow. I
