Most of the respondents have preferred a particular brand of smart phone due to good

quality, have chosen network service provider for ‘Free call and SMS’, have purchased
smartphones for communicating with others and have purchased smartphone on their own
choice. Simple ranking technique has been used to analyse the factors influencing the
purchase of smart phones. Most of the respondents gave I rank to Quality followed by brand

Most of the respondents have used smartphones for a period of more than 3-4 years,
have used smartphones at home, have used internet in smartphones for entertainment. It is
clear that they have always used smartphones for chating; have often used smartphones for
making voice/video call; have always used smartphones for taking picture/video; have often
used smartphones for news reading; have always used smartphones for watching video; have
often used smartphones for internet browsing; have sometimes used smartphones for visiting
social networking sites; have sometime used smartphones for downloading apps/software;
have never used for smartphones for playing games and have always used smartphones for
listening music.

They have used smartphones for 2-3 hours per day, have spent below Rs.100, have
used 1GB per day, have used only one smartphone. Some respondents have used another
smartphone for work purpose. Many respondents have changed their smartphones due to the
arrival and attraction and new technology. Many respondents are using whats app and social
app.

Most of the respondents have strongly agree opinion about the statements ‘I check my
smartphone when I wake up in the morning’; ‘I often multitask while using a smartphone’;
‘Using public transport’; ‘I using smartphone often while I am having meals’; ‘Using a phone
to record video/take photos at a live event’ and ‘Taking selfie in public places’; ‘ I usually
spend more time than I expect on smartphone usage time’; ‘I feel uncomfortable when I am
without my phone’; ‘I never turn off my smartphone’; ‘I carry my phone wherever I go’; ‘I
can’t live without my phone’; ’All my friends number should be saved my phone’.
 Most of the respondents have agree opinion about the statement ‘I check my
smartphone just before I go to sleep’; ‘I check my smartphone in the middle of the night’;
‘My social life would be non-existent without a smartphone’ and ‘Smartphone is very
important for me’.

Most of the respondents have neutral opinion about the statement ‘I spent more time
on smartphone than I do talking with my family/friends’; ‘I using smartphone while
watching television’; ‘Using phone while walking along the street’; ‘My smartphone is a part
of my body’.

While studying the opinion of the respondents towards smartphones, it is clear that
most of the respondents have strongly agree opinion about the statement ‘Smartphone
connect the people all over the world’; ‘It gives security to communication’; ‘It is necessary
in the modern life’; ‘It provides new more entertainment’; ‘The mode of operation of the
smartphone is very easy’; ‘It brings the word in a finger tip and Misuse of advanced facilities
among the people’; ‘It create health problems’ and ‘Misuse of advanced facilities among the
people’.

They have agree opinion about the statement ‘It is cheapest mode of communication’ and
‘it is easy to carry to any place’.

The respondents have faced health problems in using smartphones.

They have a problem of dry eyes and have a problem of overheating of smartphones.
