Selected for the University of Virginia High School Leadership Program,


The Sorensen Institute: 11th grade
Neptune Festival Princess: 11th grade
Selected to represent the city of Virginia Beach as an Ambassador at community
events such as the Mayor’s Ball, Special Olympics, The Neptune Festival
Parade, and other community outreach programs
Cox High School Leadership Workshop: Staff Member
11th grade; selected to be on the planning committee to organize a weekend
retreat for approximately 100 underclassmen, 4 hours per week from Oct. to April
Cox Student Council Association: 9th grade to present
Freshman Advisory Board: Homecoming Decorating Committee and assisted
with other freshman class events
Sophomore Class Historian: managed the Class of 2021 social media page to
promote school events and class spirit throughout the school year
SCA Executive Board: selected 10th and 11th grades; plan and implement
school wide events: Falcon Fest Volunteer: assist new freshman students with
tours of Cox, Welcome Back Teacher Breakfast, SCA Car Wash Fundraiser,
Hoodies for the Holidays
SCA School Secretary: 11th grade, keep SCA members informed and help
organize school wide events for students, teachers and the community
Cox Leadership Weekend Retreat Participant 9th,10th grades
President of Beach Buddies: 9th grade to present
Organize bi-weekly activities for special needs students at Cox such as: karaoke
sing-along parties, arts and crafts, outings to Cox Football games, Homecoming
Dance and much more. Increased engagement level of the club and now over
100 students have applied to be a Buddy; Recognized by Channel 3 WTKR

Leadership continued

CHKD Love Run Committee: 10th,11th grades


Event helps benefit the local CHKD hospitals and the children they serve,
recruited local sponsors for the event and solicited gift cards to be raffled,
assisted with advertising race and volunteering day of the event
S.O.A.R. Committee: 10th grade
Selected by Cox Administration to work with faculty and administrators to offer
student perspective on school issues, met weekly for one month and then did a
presentation to the faculty during one of the teacher in-service days
Buddies Helping Buddies Leadership Workshop:10th,11th grades
Helped plan the first city-wide special needs leadership workshop; students from
different Virginia Beach public high schools attended and had a fun day getting to
meet other students and engaging in activities
Va. Wesleyan City-Wide Leadership Workshop: 11th grade
Participated in a leadership workshop with students from all Virginia Beach public
high schools for approximately 40 hours over the summer
National Honor Society: 10th and 11th grades
An active member attending meetings and participating in community service
events
Cox German Exchange Student Program: 10th grade
One of 20 hosts for the first Cox German exchange program, participated in
school and community events to increase cultural understanding
Young Life: 9th to present
Selected for an Educational Inclusion Grant by VCU’s Department of Education:
11th grade; Goal to implement inclusion events at Cox High School to foster
relationships between general and special needs students (awarded $1850 to
coordinate a series of events)

Volunteered as a “peer buddy” at a day camp for children with Autism with daily
activities of swimming, games, sports, music and crafts.

Guest/volunteer of special needs student for prom (6+ hours)
F.A.C.T. (Families with Autism Children of Tidewater) 9th-present
Volunteer at Fall Art Show, F.A.C.T. Bowling Camp 1x day per week for six
