This is the day the Lord has made! Christ is risen, and
through him all creation is made new! Indeed, “God
shows no partiality” (Acts 10:34): Christ’s
resurrection truly brings life to everyone. We sing
hymns of praise, gather around sacred words, and
proclaim God’s faithfulness, power, and love in the
feast of holy communion. With the women at the
tomb, we are astonished, elated, and grateful. We
depart with joy to proclaim the good news of God’s
endless love.

ORDER OF WORSHIP
GATHERING
Prelude “Christ the Lord is Risen Today’ by Ovid Young

Words of Welcome Pastor Diana Linden-Johnson

*Thanksgiving for Baptism

P: Alleluia! Christ is risen.
C: Christ is risen indeed. Alleluia!

P: Joined to Christ in the waters of baptism, we are raised with

him to new life. Let us give thanks for the gift of baptism.

You are invited to dip your fingers in your bowl of water and make a
sign of the cross on your forehead as a reminder of your baptism.

P: We give you thanks, O God, for in the beginning you created

us in your image and planted us in a well-watered garden. In the
desert you promised pools of water for the parched, and you gave
us water from the rock. When we did not know the way, you sent the
Good Shepherd to lead us to still waters. At the cross, you watered us
from Jesus’ wounded side, and on this day, you shower us again with
the water of life.

P: We praise you for your salvation through water, for the water in this
font, and for all water everywhere. Bathe us in your forgiveness,
grace, and love. Satisfy the thirsty, and give us the life only you
can give.

P: To you be given honor and praise through Jesus Christ our Lord
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever.
C: Amen.

*Prayer of the Day Worship Assistant –Angela Chacon
A: Oh God,
C: you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our
redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us
from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin, that we
may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection, through
your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

WORD
First Reading: Acts 10:34-43 Reader: Craig Williams

R: 34Peter began to speak to [the people]: “I truly understand that God

shows no partiality, 35but in every nation anyone who fears him and
does what is right is acceptable to him. 36You know the message he
sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ—he is
Lord of all. 37That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in
Galilee after the baptism that John announced: 38how God anointed
Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went
about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil,
for God was with him. 39We are witnesses to all that he did both in
Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a
tree; 40but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to
appear, 41not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as
witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the
dead. 42He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that
he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the
dead. 43All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes
in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

R: The Word of the Lord.

C: Thanks be to God.

7
Second Reading: Colossians 3:1-4
R: 1If you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above,
where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on
things that are above, not on things that are on earth, 3for you have
died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ who is
your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in
glory.

R: The Word of the Lord.

C: Thanks be to God.

*Gospel Acclamation

P: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew, the 21st

chapter.
C: Glory to you, O Lord.

8
Gospel: Matthew 28:1-10
P: 1After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary
Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2And suddenly
there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, descending
from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3His
appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4For
fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men. 5But the
angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are
looking for Jesus who was crucified. 6He is not here; for he has been
raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7Then go
quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and
indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.’
This is my message for you.” 8So they left the tomb quickly with fear
and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them
and said, “Greetings!” And they came to him, took hold of his feet,
and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go
and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

P: The Gospel of Lord.

C: Praise to you, O Christ.

Hymn of the Day: Christ is Risen! Shout Hosanna! ELW 383

*Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was
conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered
under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he
descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended
into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will
come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of
sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
10
*Prayers of the People Prayers: Angela Chacon
After each petition:
L: Lord in your mercy,

*Great Thanksgiving

*Eucharistic Prayer:
P: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times
and in all places give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful
God, for the glorious resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, the true
Paschal Lamb who gave himself to take away our sin; who in dying
has destroyed death, and in rising has brought us to eternal life. And
so, with Mary Magdalene and Peter and all the witnesses of the
resurrection, with earth and sea and all their creatures, and with angels
and archangels, cherubim and seraphim, we praise your name and join
in their unending hymn:

12
*Holy, Holy, Holy

*Words of Institution
P: Blessed are you, O God of the universe. Your mercy is everlasting
and your faithfulness endures from age to age…. With this bread and
cup we remember our Lord’s Passover from
death to life as we proclaim the mystery of faith:
C: Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
P: O God of resurrection and new life:
Pour out your Holy Spirit on us and on these gifts of
bread and wine. Bless this feast. Grace our table with
your presence.
C: Come, Holy Spirit.
P: Reveal yourself to us in the breaking of the bread. Raise us
up as the body of Christ for the world. Breathe new life into us.
Send us forth, burning with justice, peace, and love.
C: Come, Holy Spirit.
13
P: With Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, Peter,
your holy ones of all times and places, with the earth and all its
creatures, with sun and moon and stars, we praise you, O God,
blessed and holy Trinity, now and forever.
C: Amen.

*The Lord's Prayer

P: Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us.
C: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom
come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our
daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin
against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and
forever. Amen.

*Invitation to Communion
