Instructions to All

I. The Pillars of the Scientific Revolution


1. Group the class into 4 groups and assign them to search about the
discoveries/contributions/ views/ideas that made impact to the society.
a. Copernicus
b. Darwin
c. Newton
d. Freud

2. Search about the brief history on the development of the following. Indicate when the
development was done.

a. Copernicus - Model of the universe


b. Darwin - Evolution
c. Newton – Laws of Motion 
d. Freud - Human Mind

3. Group work/Output: Construct a Timeline on the chronological progression of accumulated


knowledge about the works of the 4 pillars of the scientific revolution. Your group output
should be able to:
- Provide an accurate summary statement about the scientist and the different achievements
of the important contributors to the Scientific Revolution through the presentation of the
group project.
- Appraise the contributions of the thinkers to the developments of the modern world and
determine the effects to the society.
- Explore and articulate on the idea that all scientific breakthroughs are built on the theories
of previous scientific discoveries.

Any format or medium of presentation of your output is accepted like actual posters or e-copy
of it in Corel, PPT or MS Publisher.

For the theatrically inclined, I do appreciate your talents though I am sorry to say that we have
very little time to spare for your full theatrical production  So kindly stick to the usual ones
now; Do save your talents for your other special endevours.

Submit your output on or before 5:00 PM on FEBRUARY 7, thru the GC (soft copy) and/or to my
office at the Department of Environmental Science – CAS Annex.
II. ADVANCE ASSIGNMENT: The week before the 1st Term Exam (Feb 10-18) and in
anticipation of CLSU’s activities for the Mid-Year Commencement Exercise on February 14.

Topic: Science and Technology (S&T) and Nation-Building

1. Search this website: http://www.science.ph/stiipub.php?type=pnws specifically on the


following years:
a. 2012
b. 2013
c. 2014
d. 2015
e. 2016

2. Individual Writing Task: Identify and choose one ‘favorite’ Filipino scientist whose work and
innovations interest you. Appraise their impact to the development of the Filipino nation
and contributed greatly to the development and progress of S&T in the country.

Submit your output not later than FEBRUARY 12, Wednesday

III. Retain your 6 groups from the last reporting (History of S&T). The 6 groups will be
representing each section in the National Research Agenda. Look for the coverage and
importance of each agenda.
o TUBIG – Group 1
o SAPAT – Group 2
o LIKAS – Group 3
o ALERT – Group 4
o SAKLAW – Group 5
o ATIN – Group 6

Submit a group report not later than FEBRUARY 18, 5:00 PM :

- What is the Agenda all about and discuss the impact of your respective agenda to Philippine
society and how is it important to the nation’s progress.
