Hi Donald! I hope you're doing well.

Today I want to show you a nice ending you can use for any minor jazz song...

Think of songs like Summertime, or Autumn Leaves...

Or any song that ends on a minor chord (whether it's a minor 7 chord, minor 6
chord, or other).

Here's the ending applied to a C minor chord:

You just hold down the pedal, and then play up the notes of a C minor 6 chord
(C Eb G A).

The minor 6 chord is a minor triad (C Eb G), with a major 6th on top (A).

So just play a minor chord, and then add a whole-step above the 5th (C Eb G
A).

It's a sophisticated sounding chord which has a dated 'Film Noir' type of sound.
The minor 6 chord implies the melodic minor scale (C D Eb F G A B) which
was used a lot in Film Noir films - like Hitchcock's film Vertigo.
