a) Sketch an audio signal and carrier
b) Construct the modulated wave
c) Determine the modulation index and percentage modulation
d) Show the modulating and carrier frequency of the signal
e) Determine the frequency would show up in the spectrum of the modulated wave?
f) Calculate bandwidth, draw the frequency spectrum.
2. A 75Mhz carrier having an amplitude of 50V is modulated by 3 kHz audio signal having an
amplitude of 20V.

4. Total power content of AM signal is 100W. Determine the power being transmitted at the
carrier frequency at each of sideband when the percent modulation is 100%.
5. Determine the power content of the carrier and each of sideband for an AM signal having a
modulation index of 80% and total power of 2500W.

an AM envelope with maximum and minimum peaks voltages of 120Vp and 30Vp respectively.
The transmitting antenna has an equivalent resistance of 75Ω. Based on the given information,
a) Determine peak amplitude of the audio, carrier and sidebands voltages.
b) Calculate the bandwidth of the modulated signal.
c) Calculate the power of the carrier signal and total sidebands power.

7. An AM modulated wave with the output wave changes of

±7.5V p is represent by the
following equation.

V am (t )=20 sin(2 π 500×103 )t−3 .75 cos(2 π 510×10 3 )t+3. 75 cos(2 π 490×10 3 )t

Based on the information given,

a) Calculate the modulation coefficient, m and percent modulation.

b) Calculate the peak amplitude of the modulated carrier, upper and lower side frequency
voltages.
c) Calculate the maximum and minimum amplitude of the envelope.
d) Draw and label the frequency spectrum.
e) Sketch and label the output envelope.
