Hello There.

This is Byed Pedroza Vives and I am a foreign languages teacher from Barranquilla/Colombia.

I began my teaching life as an English teacher. However, in my third year of experience, I had the
chance to teach science. At that point, I found out how interesting this subject is, because it can be
used as a way to make students more not only could I teach this content area by experimentation,
but also I could use CLIL in the process to develop English language skills in my students.

Right now I am science, social studies and language arts teacher, and I always focus on having my
students motivated and interested in every class by bringing fun activities that are out of the
ordinary and always showing them an objective.

by experiencing on their hands what they are learning and let them know how this knowledge
could be applied to their daily life.

Talking about classroom management, I consider that it is crucial to stablish agreements with
students from the very first contact I have with them, having them participate actively in the
construction of the classroom rules and consecuences when they fail to comply with these rules,
has shown me that students are more conscious of what they may and may not do in the class,
and always make sure to have the value of respect as the core value in my classes, since it is the
basis of every rule.

Having a teacher coming from a foreign country will always ensure students with a wide open
mind who will know that the world is a big place, but having me as their teacher will help them
have fun and be engaged in the process of becoming citizens of the world, that's why you should
have me as a teacher at your school.
