JUDICIAL AFFIDAVIT OF DR. JAIME RODRIGO LETRERO LEAL

The prosecution, through the undersigned prosecutor,

respectfully submits the judicial affidavit of Jaime Rodrigo Letrero
Leal, a Filipino Citizen, married, and a residence of Trancoville,
Baguio City.

This Judicial Affidavit was taken before his counsel, Rina Paula
Burgos, who conducted and supervised the examination of the
witness in her office located at Session Road, Baguio City.

The testimony of the examiner serves as his direct testimony

and is being offered as an expert testimony and to prove the
following:

A. That this testimony seeks to establish that the aforementioned

witness JAIME RODRIGO LETRERO LEAL, Medico-Legal, has
conducted an autopsy. That upon such procedure the said
Medico-Legal has found that the victim has wounds on his head
that led to the death of the said victim.
 B. The purpose of this testimony is to prove that the victim,
REYNALDO FELIPE MANGAOANG received by Benguet
General Hospital was proclaimed dead upon arrival due to
Intra-Cranial Hemorrhage secondary to Blunt Traumatic Head
Injuries as a result of the alleged mauling incident inflicted upon
him.

C. All other related matters, facts and circumstances relevant and

material to this case.

The witness is answering the questions asked of in English, a

language fully understands and speaks by him and he is fully
conscious that he does so under oath and that he may face criminal
liability for false testimony or perjury.

These questions are numbered consecutively and each question

is followed by the answer of the witness.

1. Do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth?
I do.

2. Are you aware that you may face criminal liability for false
testimony or perjury if you will not tell the truth?
Yes, I am.

3. Please state your name, age, address and occupation.

I am Dr. Jaime Rodrigo Letrero Leal, a Filipino Citizen, of legal
age and married. I am a resident of Trancoville, Baguio City.

4. Where were you last March 4, 2015?

On March 4, 2015 at around 11 o’clock in the morning I was at
the Regional Crime Laboratory Office.

5. Where did you go that day?

That day, I went to Benguet General Hospital because Juan
Robert Cruz, the Station Commander of Police Station 2 of the
Baguio City Police Office called requesting to conduct an
autopsy on the cadaver of Reynaldo Felipe Mangaoang.

6. What happened next?

 I received the cadaver of Mr. Reynaldo Felipe Mangaoang by
11:54 in the morning from the morgue of Benguet General
Hospital.

7. What happened after you have received the cadaver of Mr.

Mangaoang?
After receiving the cadaver, I performed the Autopsy.

8. How long have you been practicing your profession?

For almost Fifteen (15) years already.

9. Where are you presently employed?

I am working at the Regional Crime Laboratory Office.

10. What position do you currently hold?

I am currently working as Medico-Legal Officer

11. Have you examined homicide victims died of Intra-Cranial

Hemorrhage before?
Yes.

12. Can you please tell us the cause of the death of the victim?
The cause of the death of the victim is Intra-Cranial
Hemorrhage secondary to Blunt Traumatic Head Injuries.

13. What do you mean by Intra-Cranial Hemorrhage?

An Intra-Cranial Hemorrhage is a type of bleeding that occurs
inside the skull.

14. Are there any sign or signs that would tell us that indeed the
victim died through Intra-Cranial Hemorrhage?
There were lacerated wounds on the victim’s head.

15. Can you explain, what is a lacerated wound?

A laceration is a wound that occurs when skin, tissue, and/or
muscle is torn or cut open. Most lacerations are the result of the
skin hitting an object, or an object hitting the skin with force.

16. Upon examining the lacerated wounds from the victim’s head,
what did you find out?
 I found 3 lacerated wounds located in the left frontal region, right
orbital region, and left maxillary region. There were hematoma
located in his right and left orbital region.

17. From your Findings were you able to determine the cause of
death?
Yes, Ma’am.

18. What was the cause of death of Mr. Mangaoang?

He had an Intra-Cranial Hemorrhage secondary to Blunt
Traumatic Head Injuries.

19. Where you able to procure a document recording such

findings?
Yes, Ma’am.

20. Is this the two-page Medico-Legal Report, the document you

are pertaining to? (Showing the Medico-Legal Report)
Yes, Ma’am.

21. At the bottom of this document, there appears to be a name,

Dr. Jaime Rodrigo Letrero Leal with a signature over it. Is this
your name and signature?
Yes, Ma’am.
