My experience in the leadership class this year has been one to write in the books.

Throughout the past months I have learned many life lessons and have found ways to overcome
difficult obstacles. I have learned that building relationships and being open-minded would allow
you to burst out of your shell and gain the trust of many people. One of the greatest lessons that I
learned is that teamwork truly makes the dreamwork. Without the cooperation and determination
of the whole class, our events and upcoming plans would have never been as successful as they
are now. I have experienced the hardships of being class president and have unforgettable
memories of all the happy times in this class. One thing that I know I will not regret this year is
choosing to be apart of a loving and hardworking leadership family.

At the beginning of the year, I was a shy freshman yearning to break out of their shell.
Leadership helped me grow into the person I am today and has helped me boost my confidence.
This class has allowed me to grow mentally and emotionally as I became attached to all of my
classmates. Leadership has taught me lessons that I would have never learned in other classes
such as watch CC means in emails, how to manage paperwork for fundraisers, and how to
organize a school-wide event in under two weeks. My growth in this class shows what a good
teacher and a positive environment can do to you. I was once the girl who struggled to connect
with my classmates but after these past months I have evolved into the person I should have been
since the beginning. I have grown to be a positive role model for incoming students and have
learned from my mistakes.

I would recommend this class to all current and incoming students. Leadership not only
teaches you how to plan events and handle paperwork but it also shows you what it is like to be
apart of a team. No matter what group you are in, you hold responsibility and everyone works
together for the best possible outcome. This elective provides you with an experience that no
other class can compare to and teaches you lessons about life outside of high school. Leadership
unlocks skills and responsibilities that you never knew you had and shapes you to become the
best version of yourself. In desperate times, you would always have a shoulder to cry on and
people to help with your situation. Leadership allows you to have the time of your life as you
carry a lot of responsibilities to represent your campus.

Leadership offers many things that no other class offers. Leadership provides you with a
safe space to explore your skills and tests your intelligence. Unlike other classes, leadership does
not focus on one specific subject, it teaches you multiple things at once that will benefit you in
the future. In ordinary classes you would never have to learn how to fill out paperwork, schedule
fundraisers, plan rallies, and LTAs. This class does not just pour out information and expect you
to absorb all of it such as others, it teaches you valuable lessons without the need to take notes or
create presentations. Leadership is a unique class that brings all of their students together as they
work in their SODA groups to improve student involvement on campus.
 Lastly, I would like to leave a message for my future self. I want you to remember all the
good times you had during work party and afterschool when mama could not pick you up early. I
want to remember all the good memories that I was able to make because I was apart of this
class. Do not forget the lessons that you have learned and only use your mistakes as an
inspiration to better yourself. Work hard to achieve your goals and remember how determined
you are to get into UCLA. Do not let your demons get the best of you and remember that I will
always be cheering you on. I will never forget my first year in leadership and I will always hold
onto the memories and friendships that I was able to create.
