-1-
1. GENERAL

The automatic telephone equipment provides a means of communication betwee~

key stations on board. therefore it is designed and built with a great care
exercised on shock-proof, water-proof and anti-corrosion features.

Generaly, the automatic telephone equipment adopts a two-wire connection.

But. a two-party line telephone equ i pment adopts a three-wire connect ion.

2. OPERATION

To make (originate) a cal I, make sure of the called party's telephone number, lift
the handset, and d i a I the number when a dial tone (tuuu) is heard.
If the ca II ed party is busy, a busy tone (tuu, .. ·, tuu, ... , ) wi II be heard.
I f the ca II ed party is not busy, a r i ngback tone (prrr, prrr) wi t I be heard. Th is.
indicates that the called party is being called.
When the cal led party I ifts the handset, you can be connected to him or her for
conversation.
If you finish talking, hang up the handset and put a dial cap (if provide~ over
it.
A circuit example appears in Fig. 1 and a connection example In Fig. 2.

2-1 Call Termination Indication by External Bel I. Buzzer or Lamp ~ee Fig. 3.)

2-1-1 Instal I Telephone in Noisy Place

Both wall type and built-in type telephone have a built-in incoming relay. each,
and their contact points are output as contact signals. So. these signals are used
to drive external bel I (on the signal' uni t). See Fig. 3 for the example.
When driving a signal unit I ike a rotary lamp, I ink it to the telephone through a
relay box (ODE-6020-2 or ODE-6021-2). See Fig. 4 for the example.

2-1-2 Indicate Cal I Termination to Some Telephones with one Signal Unit

To indicate calls. .terminated at two telephones (e.g., an alltomatic telephone and

a common-battery telephone). with one bell, they should be connected as seen In
Fig. 5.
Here, when a call is terminated at either one telephone, the bell starts ringing
in synchronization with the call.
For example, if a call is terminated at the automatic telephone, the bell repeats
ringing (one sec. eN and two sec. OFF). Or. if a call termination at the
common-battery telephone, the bel I rings continuously or intermittently.
Otherwise, see the call termination lamp on the signal unit.

3-6 Portable Type Telephone (ODA-1980-I. IN)

(See the followings for the appearance and component explanation.)

This telephone set, being of drip-proof structure, has a handset, circuit network,
push-button dial, neon lamp, tone-ringer and cord-connecting receptacle inside its
housing. The housing has a length-adjustable shoulder strap. And this set has a
telephone-hanging bracket and a water-proof connection cord (15 m). too.

On using, carry the telephone set to the desired place and connect the cord to the
receptacle and lift the handset.
Further operations are the same as those for other telephones.
The long spiral cord of the handset al lows you to move around during conversation.
Especially for rainy weather, close the cover while the spiral cord stays out of
the cover. The water-proof notch on the cover never holds the cord.
When the talk is over, hang up the handset, put its cord in the housing pocket and
close the cover.
To store this telephone set, disconnect the plug from the telephone and fasten the
water-proof cap of the receptacle tightly.
Because the connection cord is easy to remove, disconnect it froID the telephone
set, if necessary.

4-1 Signal Relay Box

The signal relay box, including two types:Drip-proof Type (ODE-6020-2) and Non-
water-proof Type (ODE-6021-2). has a relay, terminal and other electrical parts on
the printed circuit board.
As seen in the figure below, the signal relay box has One each circuit for AC and
DC signals as incoming signals:

4-1-2 Operations

Connect an incoming signal from an automatic telephone or a sound-powerd telephone

to terminal SIC AC. And connect that from a common-battery telephone, to terminal
SIC DC.
Connect power to S+ and S- of the terminal; the signal unit to B+ and B- of the
terminal. Here, a DC power is used.
When an AC power is used (for an AC-operating signal unit), take off either one of
resistor R2 or capacitor CO connected In parallel to the contact point. Up to 240V
AC can be used. This signal relay box is set on the wall using four bolts.

When called, the electronic buzzer wi II sound. At the same time,
the optional air-phone and revolving light will also be activated ..
Pick up the handset and begin talking.
3) Terminating a call
'.
When the cal I has been completed, place the handset back on the
telephone.

5.2 Presetting at installation

Signal Selection(DP/PB Dial)
Set the switch located within ~he handset to either the 10pps,
20pps or PB, according to the kind of the selecting signal of the
automatic telephone exchange in use.

6. Naintenance

.
This equipment has been bui It to the intrinsically safe construction
specification. In order to maintain the safety protection level, any
