Methodological Framework

This dissertation consists essentially on understanding the Syrian Crisis towards

Lebanon Foreign Policy. Acknowledge and rational methods and methodologies would be a
preference in the concretization of this work. In International Relations and Political Science
Studies, the methodological approaches can vary according the thematic that's chosen. Add,
two main ideas must be mention. Firstly, International Relations is a broaden field inside of
Social Sciences and at same time do not exclude natural sciences or technological
approaches that can contribute to the stability of World Affairs. Secondly, Middle East policy,
for instance, it provoke different reactions and different perspectives, reflecting the
heterogeneity of analytical framework and surely admits different kinds of methodology.

I opted at first sight for qualitative research to settle the basis of my dissertation. After
choosing the topic, some questions such as How, Why, What, where, When, Who helped me
to prepare the structure of my scientific paper. Although, most of my methodological research
had a quantitative framework cause it prove and support the majority of my research.

Syrian intervention in Lebanon is one of the up-down precedents of Syrian Foreign

policy. In 2008, the Syrian-Lebanon diplomatic relations were established for the first time.
Despite of all, Syria and Lebanon have joined forces in the past and are not stranger to each
other. The difference persists on Lebanon claims of becoming an independent state, with
non-state actor’s intervention, inclusive from Syria. Nonetheless, it is not possible to separate
for complete the two countries, due to historical context that still influences the conduct of
Syria in Lebanon. Major efforts were accomplished by external actors especially U.S and
France to abolish Syrian presence in Lebanon, on contrary, despite of the conflict in Syria,
Damascus continues indirectly involved on Lebanon Politics. The Syrian-Lebanon alliance is
regarded as a threat to western countries. Beyond the most dominant western world, as U.S
or France, we assist to their influence and interest on Middle East Region. Lebanon faced
many obstacles and it is characterized by tremendous political instability and corruption. The
problem resides on the partial fragmentation that affects gradually politics, economics and
society. Due Syrian Conflict, demographic situation aggravate with the Refugee movement
and the terrorist attacks on the borders with Syria and Israel.
