A Side-By-Side Comparison
NOTES:
1. The PSI-M is the main working chamber and the SARA-M-L is the connected airlock chamber. The two chambers are
interconnected with a Transfer Door.
2. The Draeger and Vaisala sensors are placed directly within the PSI-M chamber adjacent to the geometric center.
3. The Draeger Transmitter reads 0, 10 and then 5 PPM increments above 10 PPM whereas the Vaisala Transmitter
reads in 1 PPM increments.
4. At the start of injection of H2O2 (Conditioning Phase), the Draeger unit reads higher PPM concentration and then by
1/3 of the way into the Conditioning Phase (≈ 20 grams injected) the Vaisala unit catches up and then generally reads
higher than the Draeger unit.
5. Initial on-set of condensation first observed on the front window at ≈ 82%RS on the Vaisala unit.
6. At the start of the 4th re-dose, the Transfer Door gasket retracts allowing the flow of H2O2 from the PSI-M into the
SARA-M-L in order to properly decontaminate the Transfer Door gasket and Transfer Door.
7. During the 5th and 6th re-doses, the Draeger and Vaisala units read essentially the same PPM concentration of H2O2.
8. When the Vaisala Unit read 2 PPM, a Draeger tube sampling was performed. Result was 1.0 PPM.
9. When the Vaisala Unit read 1 PPM, a Draeger tube sampling was performed. Result was 0.5 PPM.
10. The Vaisala units 1 PPM resolution and comparative reading with Draeger tubes makes the Vaisala unit relatively
effective at determining high and low concentrations, although further evaluation should be considered.
11. It appears that the Draeger unit essentially measures H2O2 gas whereas the Vaisala unit measures H2O2 gas and the
condensate collectively, although further evaluation should be considered.
