Ashley: Did you hear that?

Timmy: No, what was it?

Ashley: It sounds like it is down in the basement.

Timmy: Want to check it out?

Ashley: No way!

Timmy: Come on««you go down first, and I will follow up with the ball bat.

Ashley: Are you crazy! You would knock me out with that thing on one good
swing.

Timmy: I¶ll go down the steps and you follow me with the bat. But be sure to
knock them good if they come after me.

Ashley: Wait«.I hear mom and dad coming. Maybe they will go check it
out.

Dad: What¶s going on here? Why are you standing with the basement with
the door open?

Mom: What is it? You¶d better put that bat down before someone gets hurt.

Timmy: We heard a noise in the basement; will you check it out?

Mom: Go on down, dad, we will wait here for you.

Dad: You do on down honey, and I will take the bat behind you.

Mom: I don¶t think I want to do that.

Timmy: Wait««I know what.

Ashley: What are you talking about?

Timmy: Let¶s get the twins to go down. We can get them out of bed and
they will not know what is going on.

Ashley: Let me go and get them. (Exits)

Dad: Honey, we¶re wasting time. Go on down, and I¶ll be right behind you.

Mom: I don¶t trust you with that bat behind me.

Ashley: The twins will not get up. We have to do it ourselves.

Timmy: Not me!

Ashley: Me neither!

Dad: We¶ll just shut the door since no one is willing to go down. (All exit)

Ashley: I did not sleep well last night.

Dad: We found out this morning what the noise was last night.

Timmy: What was it?

Dad: The shed door leading outside of the basement was left unlatched
and was swinging back and forth. That was what the banging was all about.

Mom: That is a relief you solved the mystery. I am glad there were no
prowlers. That would be scary around her on this farm.

Ashley: Whew! A mystery solved«.thank goodness! (All exit)

   Ê
When our daughter was a little girl, we decided to go and take her with
us to King's Island. If any of you have ever been to King's Island you
know it has lots and lots of people and many rides. She was too little
to ride many of the big rides, as we took her on what we could. As we
were standing in a long line, we noticed all of the sudden that she
disappeared. Of course, we became concerned and began seeking her
searching all over the area. We asked people if they had seen her. Finally,
one of the workers came up to us, and told us that they had her. She was
playing a game with one of the workers in safe place. We were so glad
that God took care of her and that she was safe. When someone
disappears it is a scary thing.
Ê
Have you ever heard the story of when King Jesus disappeared ± just like
that? It really happened!

One day, there were a couple of people walking down the Emmaus Road.
They were headed to the small town of Emmaus. It was actually a village.

I live in a village, rather than a city. You have to have a certain amount of
people to be called a city, and the town that I live in is small and the
population or business does not have enough to make a city.

Well, as these two people were walking down this road, they were talking
about the latest news on headlines. A man named Jesus was been
crucified and was buried. He was placed in a tomb, and after three days
came right out of the grave. The guards were dumbfounded and frightened.
They ran to tell the officials what had happened. The officials were
concerned that the people would hear about this, and they would realize
that a BIG mistake had taken place. So the told the guards to ³LIE´ and say
that the disciples came in the night and stole the body of Jesus. What a big
lie that was!

Do you know that God is not pleased when we tell lies? One of the Ten
Commandments says, ³You are not to be telling any lies´. When we say
things that are not true we are telling a lie. God say that anyone who tells a
lie will not go to heaven. It is important that we are careful to always tell the
truth even if it gets us into trouble. Normally, telling one lie leads to a
person telling another lie to cover up that lie.

Right out of nowhere a man started walking with them. Where did he come
from? They did not know who he was, and had not seen this man around
anywhere. It was a mystery! The man turned to look at them and said,
³What are you two talking about so earnestly?´ They were taken with such
surprise, and just looked at this stranger. You mean this Stanger had not
heard all the news that had taken place. Why«.everyone knew what had
been happened lately. It was the only thing that people were talking about
now.
They asked the stranger, ³Where have you been all this time? You mean
you have not heard the BIG news?

The Stanger asked them what had happened. The couple went on to tell
this stranger what had been happened to Jesus, how the high priest had
betrayed him, and how people had told lies about him that were not true. All
these lies caused him to be crucified.

³Can you imagine, after three days this Jesus came right out of the grave,´
exclaimed one of them to the stranger. He went on to say that some
women even looked inside to tomb and could not find anybody in sight.
They even said they talked with an angle. That is a difficult story after all,
don¶t you think?

Then, the stranger looked at the two people traveling to Emmaus and said
something very strange to them. ³You are both slow to believe what is true.
Why can¶t you believe what the prophets said to be true? All these things
had to happen for this man Jesus to suffer and die for the sins for the
people before He could return back to heaven. Haven¶t you read the book
of Moses where all the Scripture tell us these things?

When this stranger said this they were very taken back. Who was HE to
say such things to them? They were polite and treated the stranger kindly
and told him to come and eat dinner with them when they arrived at the
place they were going. As they continued walking, they were strangely
quiet about all this.

Finally, when they arrived at their destination, the Stanger came in to eat
with them. He sat at the table and took the bread they gave to him. But
then he did something that was so strange. He broke the bread after
praying, and gave it to them. As soon as the stranger did this, their eyes
were opened and they knew that the stranger was Jesus.

It is only as we spend time with Jesus that our eyes will be opened to what
He wants to say to us. We find His words in the bible as we read it. We
hear what he has to say in our hearts when we pray to King Jesus.

As soon as Jesus realized they recognize him, he disappeared ± just like

that.

Wow! That was King Jesus right here. I felt his presence in my heart.
We too, will feel King Jesus in our hearts when we have confessed our sins
and talk and walk with him on a daily basis. We can be with him every day
not just on one visit like this couple did who were walking to Emmaus. King
Jesus is here ± today and you can know him.

If you do not know Jesus as your personal Savior, you can today. ³For God
so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life´ (John 3:16).

Ê Ê× ÊÊHave the kids repeat after you. Encourage them to
share what Jesus has done for them to someone else. We are over comers
by the word of out testimony.Ê

Provide robes for the two travelers and a white robe for Jesus. They may

Traveler 2: It is sure a hot day.

Traveler 1: I know. This material is hotter than my old one.

Traveler 2: Do you get a new one for your birthday?

Traveler 1: Sure did. Hey! Did you hear the recent news going on all over
town?

Traveler 2: You mean about that man, Jesus, who rose from the grave?
Traveler 1: Yea! That sure was some mystery. How could anyone possibly
do that?

Traveler 2: Do you think someone stole the body?

Traveler 1: Not according to the guards. They told that the tomb just
flew right out of the way, and out walked Jesus.

Traveler 2: Not according to the guards. Do you think he was put in the
tomb alive?

Traveler 1: That would be impossible! It was sealed airtight for three

days. There is no way anyone could come out of that alive.

Traveler 2 He must be a prophet or someone very high in society.

Traveler 1: He claimed to be the Messiah - the One who would save the
people from their sins.

Jesus: Hi there!

Traveler 1: Yikes! You scared me to death. Where did you come from all
of the sudden?

Jesus: You were both so earnestly taking and must not have seen me
arrive. What's up?

Traveler 2: You mean you haven't heard all the strange news going on
all over town?

Jesus: What's that?

Traveler 1: This man, Jesus, was crucified and hung on a cross.

Jesus: Hmmm!

Traveler 2: He was buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead after three
days in there.

Traveler 1: The women even went right in the tomb and could not find
him anywhere. He disappeared.

Jesus: Interesting news! Where are you all headed?

Traveler 2: A small town of Emmaus. This road will take us right there.
I am getting hungry. Maybe you can stop with us for a bite to eat.

Jesus: Thanks a lot! That sounds good to me.

Traveler 1: This sun sure is warm today. Well, here we are. Come on in,
and have something to eat with us.

(Sit on chairs)

Traveler 1: Here is the bread. Take some off - get a big chunk. You
must be hungry, too.

Jesus: (Takes bread and breaks it)

Traveler 2: So where do you come from?

Jesus: All these things had to happen for this man Jesus to suffer and die
for the sins for the people before HE could enter back to heaven (Jesus
exits)

Traveler 1: Where did he disappear to?

Traveler 2: Didn't you feel strange when he was walking with us - showing
up like that all of the sudden?

Traveler 1: I did feel strange especially when he broke that bread and
what he said.

Traveler 2: I felt such warmth (pats his heart) inside as he was talking.

Traveler 1: Truly, He must be the Messiah as we were told.

Traveler 2: Come one, we¶ve got some good news to share. (EXIT)
