ACTIVITY / TOPIC First Visit to San Roque Parish Church and Meet and Greet
with the Kindergarten Children

DATE of Activity September 3, 2019

Today, it was our first time visiting San Roque Parish Church. The day started with
checking of attendance and making sure that everybody in the class were already at the place.
We got to tour around the place to get familiarized with its surroundings and got to see and check
the facilities of the dental clinic there. We were taught about the rules we had to follow during
our clinic duty there and were told to clean up the place well after every duty. Before going to
the kindergarten, we were briefed about what we were going to do today and the schedule of our
activities were also discussed. we got to meet Sister Lydia Candava who warmly welcomed us to
the place and who accompanied us to the kindergarten.

After the tour and

meeting Sister Lydia, we went to the Kindergarten. We walked all the way there so that we know
how to get there and get familiarized with the roads we had to take in order to get there. Though
for the next time we go there, we are allowed to take the tricycle but since we still don’t know
where and how to get there, we walked all the way to the kindergarten. We also stopped by the
Barangay hall to get some papers signed by the barangay captain. The small kindergarten was
beside a covered basketball court and the Pasig River, where you can see Guadalupe and
Rockwell, Makati on the other side of the river.
 We finally got to meet and greet for the first time the children in the kindergarten today.
There were only a few children present there so we were confused since we were told there was
supposed to be almost 30 or more children at the place. We were informed by the teacher that a
lot of the students were currently sick and absent but the whole class was really composed of 27
or so children but only 19 were present
today. So, Ayra, Jason and Milkie led
the introductions and greetings of the
class. One by one we introduced
ourselves to the children and
immediately tried to look for a child to
look after for the whole semester. But
since there were only a few students
present, I and the others had to partner
up for today for one student. Some of
the children were pretty sweet and
welcoming and some were pretty shy so
we had to take some extra effort and
patience to get them open up to us, but
eventually all of them warmed up to everyone.
After introducing ourselves to the kids, we had them play some games with us to get
them more comfortable and familiar with all of us. The children were given crayons whenever
they won and did a good job. Everyone in the room
participated in the activities and even got surprised by
some of the children with their boldness and playfulness.
When the games ended, we gathered up the
children to form two lines at the front to give them our
prepared gifts for them. Everyone was delighted and
immediately used the crayons to color in the coloring
books we gave them. Suddenly the whole classroom got
quiet as each child got busy with their coloring books. So
we also prepared to leave and say goodbye to the
children. After we
said goodbye, we
went back to the
church.

schedule for each
group was also
organized so that every group will get to prepare. After
checking our attendance, everyone went home or went
back to school to get some stuff.
 Today, before going to the kindergarten, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get
close to a child since I don’t know how to handle children at that age, but once I got there and
met some kids, I was quite happy that I made some kids get comfortable around me and even
play with me. The kids were participative in the games and other activities so that also made me
happy. I managed and learned how to interact with so it overjoyed me when we said that we
were leaving some of them didn’t want us to leave and even made us promise that we were going
to come back next week to visit and play with them again.
