Dear Parents:

Our last newsletter of the year. You are probably relieved. I still may be sending some last-minute
memos. LOL.
We are coming to the end of our instructional time and I am having a hard time releasing the
kiddos. In reality, grades are in and the only thing I will be changing is those who have “Incompletes” and
require time to finish. After this morning, I will not require seeing the students at meetings unless they
have an “Incomplete”. I am happy though, to meet with anyone who wants additional assignments or help
in a subject they feel challenged.
I want to put it out once again, about Summer School. It will be virtual and is open to everyone.
The last day of registration is today. You can find the link for registration at the Mission Valley website. It
will be on your right-hand side of the website.

There is a survey that may have been sent to you, but if not, I will be attaching the link. This
survey is produced by the District, and will be used as a tool in consideration of how online learning
worked for you and your child, how you think we can improve and what may be used in the future in the
event we have to do this again. I do want to let you know that the Board of Trustees are currently looking at
a optional “year round school” calendar whereby we would begin school the first week in August.
Personally, I do feel this will help in remediating the educational gaps we have been suffering and will
suffer, but I am unsure as to how this will look. If mandatory social distancing is still required, I don’t
know how that would be accomplished in a classroom of 22. Regardless of my opinion, your input is truly
needed, and we do want your voice to be heard. The Board of Trustees will be meeting on June 5th ( I
believe) to vote on the proposed calendar. The link to the Parent Survey is:

I want to thank each of you for allowing me into your homes for this online experience. It has
been a privilege to work with each of your children this year. We were not able to do many of the things I
normally do when ending our year. Instead of focusing on what we missed, I really want to encourage you
to continue working with your child this summer. I say this each year, but this year I feel it is imperative.
Normal websites such as Istation, Reasoning Mind, Reflex Math, and Education Galaxy are all ways to
keep this “growth mindset” moving. I also am attaching a link that I feel will benefit you and your child
this summer for Reading. If nothing else, this by far, must be a priority for your child. Reading strength
will make everything easier as they become stronger readers. The link I would like you to subscribe to is

Please continue to be safe, enjoy your time together, and have a great summer!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Henderson

P.S. – For those of you that I will be retrieving items from the classroom: I still do not have a date as to
when I can go back to the school. I know Ms. Alvidrez is working on another schedule at this time, so I
promise, you will be the first to know.
