1. (U) BOARDING - NIGERIA: On 20 May at 18301, seven heavily armed pirates attacked and boarded an underway general ca‘90 ship approximately
142 NM southwest of Brass near position 02:14N - 005:05E. The crew retreated into the citadel and contacted the owners and IMB PRC. The IMB Piracy
Reporting Centre immediately started lasing withthe Nigerian Authorities and requested for assistance. Two Nigerian naval vessels responded. By the
time the naval vessels arrived, the pirates had departed the area, The crew emerged from the citadel and the naval vessels remained alongside the ship

2.(U) HUACKING ~ IVORY COAST: On 15 May at 0700LT, ten pirates hijacked the lary Coastflagged Chinese-owned fishing trawler HAL LU FENG 11
approximately 65 NM south of Abidjan. The Nigerian authorities subsequently deployed the Nigerian Navy Ship NGURU with embarked Special Boat
Service personne! to intercept the hjacked fishing vessel and rescue the crew. The trawlers crew consisted of 8 Chinese, 7 vorians, and 3 Ghanaians.

3,(U) SUSPICIOUS APPROACH - BENIN: On 14 May, individuals in one skiff and an 80-meter vessel approached an underway Italy-lagged cargo ship
‘approximately 106 NM south of Cotonou near position 04:34N - 002:29E. These vessels approached to within 2.5 NM of the cargo ship. The master
increared speed and altered course, which resulted in the two vessels moving away (Clearwater Dynamics),
4,(U) KIDNAPPING UPDATE ~ GULF OF GUINEA (LATE REPORTING): On & May, pirates released seven Ukrainian crew after being held for 47 days. On
22 March 2020, pirates abducted the sailors from the Portugal-lagged container ship MSC TALIA F. The ship was en route from Lome, Togo to Port
Lirevile, Gabon when the kidnapping occurred. (Clearwater Dynamics)
5. U) KIDNAPPING UPDATE ~ GULF OF GUINEA (LATE REPORTING): On 8 May, (ELOBEY Vi) pirates released two Moroccan and one Equatorial
Guinean crew men after being held for 48 days. On 21 March 2020, pirates kidnapped the three crewmen from the Equatorial Guinea-flagged roll
‘on/rolloff passenger ship ELOBEY VI. The ship was hijacked off Port Gent, Gabon, and then transited to an area southwest of Bonny Island, Nigeria,

6. U) SUSPICIOUS APPROACH ~ SOUTHERN RED SEA: On 20 May at 0430LT, the captain of a tanker transiting north in the Red Sea spotted two
high-speed skiffs approximately 48 NM southwest of Hodeidah Port. Yemen near position 14.24N -042°11E. When the skffs changed course to
intercept the tanker, the captain changed course and increased speed, The skifs approached to within 0.5 NM during the incident. There were seven
individuals onboard each skiff caring objects, possibly weapons. The skiff alsa had black flags with white Arabic letters. The skiffs pasted the tanker's
starboard side and continued clear of the vessel's stern. The individuals inthe skffs made no attempt to board or chase the tanker. (Clearwater

7.(U) ATTACK — GULF OF ADEN: On 17 May, armed individuals in two skifs approached and fired upon the United Kingdom-flagged chemical tanker
STOLT APAL 75 NM southeast of Mukala, Yemen near position 13:43N - 050:37€. “After multiple warning shots were fired by the armed guard team
‘aboard STOLT APAL, the skffs opened fire on the ship. The armed security team returned fire, disabling one skff and ending the pursuit” according to

68, (U) BOARDING ~ INDONESIA: On 1 May at 0225LT, three robbers in a small boat approached and boarded a tanker anchored in the Merak
‘Anchorage near position 05:54S - 105:59E, The robbers were atmed with long knives and climbed onboard using a ladder. Once onboard, they broke
into the steering gear room, When the crew spotted the rabbers, they raized the alarm and mustered, The robbers subsequently fled with stolen

9. (U) BOARDING - MALAYSIA: On 18 May at O40OLT, robbers in a waaden fishing boat approached and boarded an accommodation work barge
under tow approximately 6 NM South of Batu Pahat Coast, Johor, Malaysia near position O1-38N - 102:57E. When the duty officer on the tug noticed
‘the small boat approaching the barge, he raised the alarm and notified the Coastal Vessel Trafic Service, When three robbers from the boat
boarded the barge, the crew directed a searchlight atthe small boat resulting inthe boat departing with the robbers still onboard the barge. The
‘small boat subsequent returned to collect the robbers before departing again. The crew has not determined if any tems were stolen from the

10,(U) BOARDING - INDONESIA: On 18 May at 2247LT, three robbers boarded the supply boat WINPOSH RESOLVE while under tow by the
Indonesia-flagged tugboat SMS SANGATTA approximately 2.1 NM northeast of Pulau Nongsa, south of the Traffic Separation Scheme in the
Singapore Strait near position 01:13N - 10406E. The master raised the alarm and reported the incident to the Singapore VTIS, At 2358L, the master

11, (U) BOARDING ~ INDONESIA: On 17 May at 0130L7, robbers boarded a tanker anchored in the Anyer Anchorage near position 0601S - 105556
When an on-duty crew member spotted one of the robbers armed with a kife, he raised the alarm, While retreating to the accommodation block,
the crew member spotted another robber exiting the emergency steering room. The robbers subsequently escaped in their boat. The robbers

12, (U) BOARDING - INDONESIA: On 17 May at 04007, robbers boarded the Singapore-flagged tanker OCEAN LEADER anchored in the Tanjung
Uban Anchorage near position 07-05N - 104:10E. When the duty crew spotted three robbers, they raised the alarm and the crew mustered. Upon
hearing the alarm, the robbers escaped empty-handed leaving behind a small knife. The local agent informed the port authorities and the Indonesian
