Research framework

Problem Analysis and research questions

A specific smart grid is really a very much intelligent grid of electricity which is

known for optimizing the great generation, consumption as well as the distribution of

electricity by the proper introduction of various technologies of information as well as

communication on the particular grid of electricity (Sanchez, A., & Rivera, 2017). This

research will focus on the issue of signal processing in smart grids and underpinning several

tools and algorithms to mitigate these issues. Smart grid has been facing challenges in storing

and analysing data incoming from various sources. Therefore, big data analytics will help in

storing and analysing data in smart grid (Xia et al., 2015).

Research Questions

1. What is the management of data for specific smart grids?

2. What is the added value of the technologies of Big Data?

3. What are the steps for the implementation of Big Data in the context of communication of

smart grids?

4. What issues are faced in smart grids in signal processing?

5. How signal processing can be implemented in big data analysis of smart grid?

6. How big data analysis can be implemented in smart grid?

Research Objectives and limitations

Objectives

1. To find the applications of big data analytics in smart grids.

2. To understand how the communication and signal processing promoted in smart grids.

3. To find the challenges and understand the concepts to manage data in smart grids with the

specific emphasis of the infrastructure of big data.

Limitations

The previous works that have been found from several journals and articles are not

sufficient for the research as the current issues are not listed in the journal articles. The

potential threats which may be generated for the utilisation of big data in smart grids are not

properly described. The security issues which may be generated by the use of Big Data are

not well described in the articles.

Research Methodology

In the research study, secondary data collection method will be used to collect

information related to issue of signal processing in smart grids. Several academic papers and

journal articles will be reviewed to make analysis of the problem related to implementation of

big data in Smart grid simulation model. To gather further information for the research,

highly expertise professionals will be interviewed and the smart grid simulation model will

be also analysed for the research. At the end, all of the information that will be gathered from

literature review, interview of professionals and analysis of smart grid simulation model will

be compared for better understanding about the research.
