Completion Operation

 Ground Preparation
Preparation is one the most important aspect to be done carefully and within the time
frame. About special care and treatment before shiping have to be well understood. Before
completion operation, tubing threads were cleaned out with steam washer to ensure all storage
compounds wiped out and then dried off for visual inspection on both pins/boxes and don’t
forget to prepare the tubing accordingly with full length measurement.
 Running Lower Completion
After preparing the tubing (Ground Preparation) the next step is running lower
completion. Lower completion consists of end of tubing mule shoe, 2 joint of CRA tubing,
landing nipple with blanking plug installed and pressure tested, pup joint and bore extention
connected to hydraulically set seal bore packer its above 28 meters. Before running with DIV in
closed position, make sure if the DIV in the well is working properly after subsequent test. Install
of RCD bearing and ready to dropping the packer sitting ball. The packet running speed is
limited to 60 second/joint with no sudden brake when inserting the slip, after the packer and
lower completion was run to the packer setting depth, the next step is continued by fillinf up the
sting and prepare to rig up the cementing ling to set the packer. Once the packer set, its time to
pressure test the annulus with releasing the packer setting tools from the packer. Don’t forget to
blow down the sitting boll in the string by pressuring up to 4000 psi or more to move the ball to
the ball cather. Subsequent operation could be carried on safely because no more gas migration
and the well in secure state.
If the DIV in the well fail during test, running a lock tool to permanently before and
milling 7BP with PMCD method ang observe the well with continuously bullheading with viscous
mud and water until the annulus pressure zero. On the top of the lower completion, single joint
DP is connected to accommodate ability to close at pipe ramps after lower completion and
install the RCD bearing with the ramps open position conditions and than dropping setting ball
and install a float sub as barrier.
 Running Upper Completion
The first one is Locator Seal Asemmbly (LSA) continued with CRA tubing string run in for
each joint. At around 100 m below ground level, a sub surface safety valve is installed followed
with each joint of tubing until there is an indication of LSA stung in to the packer. Necessary
space out was done based on the tubing movement and stress analysis.

As a result of operations in East Java, workover in PMCD method, has been proven to be
a practical and effective way of completing the wells in the area, especially since it has the
capability of keeping all the reservoir gas andall its H2S and CO2 content away from surface,
thereby simplifying the operational and equipment requirements of the project. This success,
when taken in conjunction with the severity of losses that were also encountered in offset wells,
begs the conclusion that given the nature of the lithology of the area, which is largely vugular
and naturally fractured carbonates.
