MY REFLECTION
Steps for Developing Portfolio Assessment
Topic

Base on my assigned topic (Steps for Developing Portfolio Assessment) is one of


the topics that enlightened me to pursue in making portfolio the best as I can and
beyond, and as a future educator someday and somehow I must start with my self doing
things that can’t beneath the ability that I could do, perhaps of; that sometimes I under
estimating the capability that I had because of insecurities in life that don’t wanted to be
ignored by someone else and judge in a bragging way of corrections as circumstances
in life I’ve experience before.

In spite of that experiences I know the from now own through this topic I’ve got,
positivity to move on, build a way of autonomous act for me to evolve the wisdom that I
had. Just like what portfolio is a compilation of academic works and other forms of
educational evidence assembled, (compilations of achievements, desire and freedom of
expressions in doing things that is being given, or a task that complied.) through this
learning progress occur in a purposeful, systematic, pre-establish the guidelines are set-
up to a successful desires.

And as a future educator someday I have now the idea on how to make an
effective and valid assessment Portfolios through the eight basic steps in developing an
assessment portfolio system. That which; first I must have to determine the curricular
objectives to be addressed through the portfolio so that I have a guide to follow.

Secondly, determine the decisions that will be made based on the portfolio
assessments. Will the assessments be used for high-stakes assessment at certain
levels of schooling, to decide what appropriate task should be given to my learners
someday, third to design assessment tasks for the curricular objectives ensuring that
the task matches instructional intentions and adequately represents the content and
skills (including the appropriate level of difficulty) students are expected to attain. These
will ensure the validity of the assessment tasks to be given.

Fourth, define the criteria for each assessment task and establish performance
standards for each criterion, as standard set for the quality of learning. Fifth, to
determine who will evaluate the finished portfolio’ within the school or others having the
experiences or knowledge to evaluate or the will trained evaluators. Six, train teachers
or other evaluators to score the assessments. This will ensure the reliability of the
assessments. Seven, to teach the curriculum, administer assessments, collect them in
portfolios, score assessments. Eight, as determined in Step 2, make decisions based on
the assessments in the portfolios.

And even though portfolios may take many different forms and may be used for
many different purposes. They may be used to diagnose, document, or celebrate
learning. Regardless of their primary purpose or audience, they have the power to
transform the learning environment in the classrooms where they are used. The magic
of portfolios lies not in the portfolios themselves, but in the process used in creating
them and the school culture in which documented learning is valued.

I can also say that building process of portfolio was very stressful, yet rewarding
in the part of both the teacher and the students to finished portfolio’s, with the different
criteria’s of instructions, objectivities, goals and factors to achieve. Currently, I am
writing my reflection to take a break from majorly stressing over this issue at hand and
as my requirement, and for future development of what I have learned in developing
assessment portfolio. I intend to do a lot. I am in the very early stages and intend to
drastically grow my knowledge through this topic.
As I mentioned my hardships above, I have learned throughout the portfolio
building process that there are some things that I need to learn on my own. When I
cannot get help from others or not jiving with me, I have learned to become more
independent in making to be an assessment portfolio

Overall, this has been one of my most valuable topic, I’ve got. I have learned a
lot and for once I actually loved doing this reflection. Making this kind of a portfolio has
been a fun learning experience and I am excited to see what else I will learn along
making an assessment portfolio in the road of education as a future educator.
