ANS: Compare and Contrast different teaching approaches and K- 12 Curriculum THE
PHILIPPINE education system is improving by developing its curricula. Previous curricula
concentrated and changed only the content and teaching strategies, whereas theorists of K to
12 gave emphases on Psychologies of learning, students’ multi-intelligences, and learners’
diversity which are necessary to ensure quality education. These learners are allowed to learn
topics and skills appropriate to their developmental scheme that made the school adhere to
age requirement. The K to 12 is the first curriculum that changes the number of years of
learners’ stay in school.

The new curriculum k 12 The DepEd shall adhere to the following standards and principles
in developing the enhanced basic education curriculum:
 The curriculum shall use pedagogical approaches that are constructivist, inquiry-
based, reflective, collaborative and integrative;
 The curriculum shall be learner-centered, inclusive and developmentally appropriate;
 The curriculum shall use the spiral progression approach to ensure mastery of
knowledge and skills after each level.
 The curriculum shall be flexible enough to enable and allow schools to localize,
indigenize and enhance the same based on their respective educational and social
context.

2. Development an instructional plan in your respective field.

ANS:
Daily or hourly planning although novice and intern teachers manifested the notion of “just in
time” planning in different ways, this theme remained constant for both groups. Some
interns used a daily approach to planning. Novice teachers were more forthcoming in
regard to the fact that they utilized a daily or even hourly approach to planning by indicating
that they utilized movies, worksheets, or informal activities as a “just in time” plan.
Intern and novice teachers both indicated student interests, prior knowledge, and experiences
as guides to their instructional planning. Planning was influenced by what students wanted to
learn in particular courses, to maintain positive classroom interactions.

3. What are the essential principles in outcomes based education? Discuss and give examples
of each
ANS:

Clarity of Focus- Teachers must: - begin with the end clearly in mind. - be clearly
focused on what they want students to know, understand and able to do. - should focus on
helping students to develop the knowledge and skills that will enable them to achieve the
articulated intended outcomes.

Designing down – Once the intended outcomes are clear, teachers now design instruction.
As Figure 1 shows, the instructional design includes assessment tasks, designing assessment
tasks.

High expectations - It means that teachers should establish high, challenging standards of
performance in order to encourage students to engage deeply in what they are learning.
Helping the students to achieve high standards and successful learning.

Expanded opportunities Teachers must strive to provide expanded opportunities for all
students. This principle is based on the idea that not all learners can learn the same thing in
the same way and in the same time. However, most students can achieve high standards if
they are given appropriate opportunities.
