Service Manager: Saving your license key/password file to your system

The following is the procedure to save an Autopass license, a .dat file or several .dat files that HP
has sent to you. These files contain the licensing data required to use the applicable Service
Manager modules. After you receive these files, you must move them to the Service Manager server.

For Windows

Follow these steps to save your license key/password file to your system:

1. Rename the .dat file to a .txt file so that you can open it with a text editor. Example: from
J8888X1624204.dat to J8888X1624204.txt

2. Create a file, LicFile.txt, to store the license data in. The default location for this file is:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Hewlett-Packard\HPOvLIC \data

You need to create this file only once. If you request any additional licenses, you should
append those licenses to the end of this file.

3. Copy the license data from the license file and paste it in the LicFile.txt you created.

For Unix

This procedure must be performed by a user with root access.
