Hydraulic pumping is a proven
artificial lift method that has been
used
since the early 1930s. It offers
several different systems for
handling a
variety of well conditions.
Successful applications have
included setting
depths ranging from 500 to 19,000
ft and production rates varying
from less
than 100 to 20,000 B/D. It is an
 artificial-lift system that operates
using a
downhole pump.

Artificial lift methods are used to
continuously remove liquids from a liquid-
loaded gas
well. The lack of energy in a reservoir can
affect the flow rate of oil, gas,
or water and artificial lift is used to
supplement the reservoir energy. Using
and the fluid density in the wellbore
is reduced. Artificial lifts also boost well
production by reducing bottomhole
pressure at wells that are deemed not
economically viable.
