MONROE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER TO TAKE EFFECT ON MAY 30, 2020

As the Monroe County Public Health Aut hority, pursuant to the authority granted by Indiana Codes 16-20-1
et seq. and 16-41-9 et seq., in the interest of protecting all Monroe County citizens, and reducing t he spread
of commun ica ble disease, specifically t he novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), I order th e following to take effect
throughout Monroe County, Indiana, beginning on May 30, 2020 at 12:00 a. m .. This Order w ill stay in effect
until June 15, 2020 at 11:59 p.m., unless repea led or rep laced prior to th at date and time.

Th is Health Order is issued after respectfu l consideration of the needs of all residents in Monroe County and
the individua l units of government w ithin Monroe Cou nty. The authority granted to me, as the Public Health
Authority, to act t hroughout the entirety of Monroe County, is recognized by these units as state power
delegated to instruct, guide, and protect the health of Monroe Cou nty Citizens and t he constitu ents w ithin
their units.

Monroe County shall foll ow the Executive Ord er(s) issued by the Governor of Indiana for Stage Ill

for the following single deviation, w hich is designed to and, in my discretion and professional opinion,
necessary to protect Monroe County reside nts. The only deviation from t he State Order is to limit the size
of mass gatherings to no more than fifty (SO) people.

The following recommendations are issued to encourage saf e and healthy interactions:

1. Facial Coverings
Monroe County strongly recommends the use of facial coverings when in public and unable to socially
distan ce, as recommended by th e Centers for Disease Control.

2. General Reco mmendations


Wh en individua ls must interact with one another out side the home, including at work, they must
observe the followi ng precautions:
a. Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from other individuals;
b. Wash t heir hands with soa p and water for at least 20 seconds as frequently as possible, or use
hand sanitizer w hen necessary;
c. Cover all coughs and sneezes;
d. Disinfect frequently used surfaces;

e. Share food, drinks, utensils, and office supplies and equipment (such as pens, staplers, and
computer keyboards) as litt le as possible;
f. Increase ventilation of indoor spaces, by opening windows or adjusting air conditioning, as much
as possible;
g. Hold all necessary meetings by telephone or videoconference whenever possible; and
h. Refrain from shaking hands or engaging in other physica l contact with the hands or face of
another person.

This Hea lt h Order is, hereby, issued pursuant to the Indiana Code provisions listed above and in a manner
