-Installing your Radio Frequency (RF) Module

This video will explain how to install your Radio Frequency Module in your Dimplex Heating
Product.

Your Dimplex device may support installation of an expansion module, used to provide
additional functionality such as wireless connectivity.

Some devices have wireless communications built-in, therefore do not need expansion
modules. [show Quantum G.6] However, other devices including many Dimplex panel
heaters support expansion modules and utilise a standard format for upgrading. [show RF
module]

Your Dimplex product instruction manual will tell you if your product is compatible with an
expansion module. You can find your manual online at dimplex.co.uk by entering your
product model code into the website search box and visiting the corresponding product
page. For further assistance with this, please contact our customer care team.

Expansion modules are usually located at the rear of your Dimplex panel heater. This can be
accessed by pushing the tabs on its mounting bracket to release the top of the heater, and
leaning it forward. Make sure you turn off power to the heater and allow time for the
product to cool before releasing it from its mounted position. A blank module will already
be fitted in your product and must be removed before installing your expansion module.

Slide the tab across and use a tool to lever the blank module from your product expansion
tray. Once removed, slide the new module in and push the heater back into its installed
upright position. When mounted, it is safe to power back on.

After the product has powered on, you must enable the new wireless communications
device in the settings menu. Your product instruction manual will have up-to-date details on
this, but it is typically accessed by pressing ‘Menu’, navigating to ‘Settings’, then ‘Comms’
and then selecting the relevant expansion module and enabling it.
Once complete, your product is ready to use wireless communications. If you are installing
wireless communications to connect to the Dimplex Control platform, follow the
instructions on the app to connect to your product.

-Replacing the battery

This video will explain how to replace the battery in your Dimplex heating product.

Your Dimplex product may contain a battery backup. This is used to maintain the time and
date when power to the product is lost. The time and date must be maintained so that
functions on the product, such as timer modes, will operate as expected once power is
returned, without requiring additional user interaction.

Many products follow a standard format to replace the battery backup but some products
require additional steps [show Quantum G.6 and XLE].

Your Dimplex product instruction manual will tell you the appropriate way to replace the
battery. You can find your manual online at dimplex.co.uk by entering your product model
code into the website search box and visiting the corresponding product page. For further
assistance with this, please contact our customer care team.

Many Dimplex panel heaters carry the battery backup in the expansion module tray and
utilise a standard format [show RF module] for upgrade and replacement.

Slide the tab across and use a tool to lever the module from your product expansion tray.
Once removed, the coin-cell battery will be visible in the module. You will need a small tool
to lever the battery out of its carrier. Take care when removing the battery not to scrape or
damage any part of the module as this may impede its ability to function and is not covered
in the standard warranty. The battery type is typically CR2032, but you should always
consult the instruction manual or spec sheet for clarification.

After the battery is replaced, re-insert the carrier module back into the heater and mount
the heater back on to its bracket. When mounted, it is safe to power back on.

-Installing Dimplex Hub

This video will explain how to install your Dimplex Hub in your property.

Dimplex Hub is the gateway for your Radio Frequency based products to connect to Dimplex
Control. All communication between the Dimplex Cloud and your products will pass through
your Dimplex Hub.
To begin installation, plug the Hub into an ethernet port on the network you wish to
connect to using the included ethernet cable. If you wish to install Dimplex Hub via Wi-Fi,
skip this step.

Plug the included power adapter into the Direct Current (DC) port on the Hub and into the
mains and switch on.

For a guide to setting up your Dimplex Hub, visit our Dimplex Hub Setup video by clicking the
annotation or the link in the video description.

-Dimplex Hub Setup

This video will explain how to set up your Dimplex Hub and link it to Dimplex Control.

Before beginning setup, you will need to download the Dimplex Control app onto your
smart device. To download the app, search for ‘Dimplex Control’ via your smart device’s app
store. [show iOS and Android app store badges] Your smart device must have an internet
connection and Bluetooth 4.0 or higher.

The app will ask you to register or log-in. If you already have an account, tap log-in,
otherwise tap ‘register’ and follow the instructions on the app to create your account.

Once logged in, if you don’t have any Hubs or products associated with your account, you
will be instructed to ‘add a Hub’. Tap the ‘add a Hub’ icon from the top-right of the property
list screen.

You will then be asked to input the Hub ID to begin setup. You can do this by scanning the
QR Code on the back of the Hub. If the QR Code is not working you can manually input the
Hub ID instead.

Once the Hub information is filled in, tap ’next’. The app will validate the Hub information
and allow you to proceed if correct. You will then be asked how you want your Hub to
connect to the internet. You can connect via either Ethernet or Wi-Fi. [Flash advantages for
both (shown below) on screen]

Ethernet  Quickest, Most Secure & Reliable

Wi-Fi  Flexible for Hub Positioning

For Ethernet, make sure that you have an Ethernet cable connected before continuing. For
Wi-Fi, make sure that your smart device is in range of the network and you have the security
key ready. On iOS, the smart device must already be connected to the network as this is the
only network that will be listed as visible. Please note, Dimplex Hub will not connect to
‘Open’, unsecured Wi-Fi networks.

After you have selected the connection method, you will be asked to activate Bluetooth on
the Hub by pressing the Bluetooth button on the front; this will turn the LED light blue.
Confirm that you have done so on the app and it will attempt to connect to the Hub. You will
then be asked to enter the Bluetooth PIN code. You can find this on the QR code label on
the rear of the Hub. Once entered, tap ‘Pair’.

If you chose ‘Ethernet’, you will have an opportunity to enter advanced network settings
such as static IP addresses and proxy server settings. For a domestic installation, this likely
isn’t necessary and you can proceed without opening advanced settings.

If you chose ‘Wi-Fi’, you will be presented with a list of ‘Wi-Fi’ networks. Select the network
you wish to connect your Dimplex Hub to and enter the password. There is also an option to
manually enter a Service Set Identifier (SSID) for hidden networks.

Your Dimplex Hub will attempt to connect to the internet and the Glen Dimplex cloud
server. The LED light for your chosen connection method will first turn blue, then green if
successful. If the connection was unsuccessful, you will be returned to the connection
method selection screen to begin the process again. Please carefully enter and check your
settings. If you are connecting to a commercial network, please contact your network admin
for assistance. If you have tried this and have been unsuccessful, contact our customer care
team for assistance which you can find details for under the ‘help’ section of the Dimplex
website.

Finally, you will then be asked to enter the GDID address for this Hub. You can find this on
the QR code label on the rear of the Hub. Your hub setup is now complete. Next, you can
add products and zones to your site. For a guide on how to do this, visit our Adding a Zone /
Product video by clicking the annotation or the link in the video description.

-Adding a Zone / Product to Dimplex Control

This video will explain how to add a zone and products to Dimplex Control.

Now that your Dimplex Hub is installed and set up, you are ready to connect products and
create zones.

To get started, tap the ‘+’ button at the bottom-right of the Hub overview screen.

You have two options: create a zone or add an appliance. We recommend that you first
create your zones, so first tap ‘zone’.

When creating zones, it is important to think about how you want to control your heating.

For a small property, such as an apartment, it is difficult to control room temperature on a

per-room basis. This is because heat emitted in one room quickly distributes to the rest of
the property. In this scenario, it may be best to either:
o Treat the property as one space and have only one zone.
o Or, treat the bedrooms as individual zones and group the rest of the spaces,
such as living room, kitchen and hallway as one zone.
For a medium-sized property, such as a 3-bedroom house, you may wish to control your
heating by floor, with the living spaces being one zone and the bedrooms all controlled
separately.
This allows you to apply specific timer operations to living spaces, used bedrooms and, for
example, keep spare bedrooms in a ‘frost protect’ or inactive mode.

For a large property, such as a 4-5-bedroom house or office block, it may be best to group
regularly active areas together or to treat every room separately.

Once you have considered how to create your zone, enter the name of your zone, then
assign an icon and colour to help you recognise it in a list. Next, tap ‘Create Zone’. Repeat
this process for all zones. You are then ready to add appliances to your zones.

For a Radio Frequency connection to Dimplex Hub, please ensure that wireless Radio
Frequency comms are enabled in the settings menu of the appliance before proceeding.

If you do not have this option, please ensure that your appliance is ‘Dimplex Control’
compatible. This may require additional hardware and a software update.

Your Dimplex product instruction manual will tell you if your product is compatible or needs
upgrading. You can find your manual online at dimplex.co.uk by entering your product
model code into the website search box and visiting the corresponding product page. For
further assistance with this, please contact our customer care team.

To add an appliance, tap the ‘+’ button at the bottom-right of the Hub overview screen, then
tap ‘appliance’.

You will be asked to enter the appliance ID. You can do this by scanning the QR Code on the
appliance label. If the QR Code is not working you can manually input the appliance ID
instead.

Once the appliance information is filled in, tap ’next’. The app will validate the appliance
information and allow you to proceed if correct. The Hub will then attempt to connect to
your appliance. If successful, you will be asked to enter a recognisable name for the
appliance, such as ‘Living Room Window’, then to assign it to a zone. You also have the
option to create a new zone.

Please note, when adding appliances to zones, if one or more appliances have different
functions to other appliances in that zone, the functionality of that zone will be reduced to
the minimum common functions. For example, storage heaters may not have every heating
mode that a panel heater does. This is generally not a problem when zoning on a per-room
basis, as product types are not usually mixed however, when creating zones that span
multiple rooms this is something to consider.

Now that your zones are created and your appliances are connected, you are ready to use
Dimplex Control. For a guide on controlling your zones, visit our Controlling your Heating
video by clicking the annotation or the link in the video description.
-Controlling your heating with Dimplex Control

This video will explain how you can control your heating with Dimplex Control.

To control your heating with Dimplex Control, open the app and select the property that you
want to control. If you haven’t set up your system or created your zones, view our Setup
and Adding a Zone videos first by clicking the links in the video description.

Once you have selected your property, you will be presented with a list of zones available to
control in that property. The name, icon and colour for each will have been selected during
setup. If a hot water cylinder is present, it will also show on the Hub screen. The ‘appliance’
tab is available here to show each individual appliance connected to your property.

Tap on the zone you want to control – this will open the zone control screen. The functions
available are grouped at the top of the screen and the list of appliances being controlled in
that zone are shown in a list at the bottom of the screen.

The functions available on this screen reflect the functions available on-board your
appliance. If one or more appliances have different functions to other appliances in that
zone, the functionality of that zone will be reduced to the minimum common functions.

To learn more about the available on-board functions of your appliance click the links in the
video description to visit our videos on how to use your Dimplex heater.

-Dimplex Control – adding / removing a user

This video will explain how you can add or remove a user from your Dimplex Control
property.

To add or remove a user from your Dimplex Control property, open the app and select the
property that you want to control. If you haven’t set up your system, view our setup videos
first by clicking the links in the video description.

Once you have selected your property, you will be presented with a list of zones available to
control in that property. Along the bottom row, there will be an icon named ‘Users’. Tap this
to go to the property user list.

All users of your property will be listed here with a label to show owner and users. To add a
user, tap the ‘add a user’ icon at the top-right of the screen. Select the property you wish to
add them to, then enter the e-mail address associated with their Dimplex Control account.

If they have an account and the app installed, they will be notified with a push-notification
that they have been invited to your property.
If they do not currently have a Dimplex Control account, they will be sent an e-mail
informing them of your invitation. If they download the app and create an account with this
e-mail address, the invitation will be shown in the notifications tab.
To remove a user from your property, from the User List, find the user that you want to
remove and tap the ‘X’ icon next to their name. Only the admin of the property is able to do
this. Once the user has been removed from this list, their access is revoked, and the
property will no longer appear in their account.

-Dimplex Control service mode

This video will explain what Dimplex Control service mode is and how you enable it.

Service mode is a useful feature that can be used to allow a Dimplex customer care agent, or
an approved Dimplex service engineer to remotely connect to your Dimplex Control
property and provide assistance. This is a temporary measure, enabled by the owner or
admin of the property for up-to 24 hours, and can be disabled at any time.

To enable Service Mode, open the app and select the property that you require assistance
with. If you haven’t set up your system, view our setup videos first by clicking the links in the
video description.

Once you have selected your property, you will be presented with a list of zones available to
control in that property. Along the bottom row, there will be an icon named ‘Settings’. Tap
this to go to the property settings menu.

From the settings menu, tap ‘Service Mode’, then toggle the switch on to enable. This will
create a unique 4-digit code and show the Dimplex Hub GDID that you will need to share
with the person assisting. You can either read this out over the phone or share it via a
messaging app on your smart device by tapping the ‘Share Code’ button at the bottom of
the screen.

The service engineer will now be able to assist you. You will be notified when a service
engineer remotely connects to your system via the app notification screen. They will have
the same level of control that you have via the app, and some extras like diagnostic reports.
This should help them to narrow down the problem and potentially make a fix for you,
without requiring a call-out visit.

To help keep your system secure, Service Mode can be disabled at any time – even while a
Service engineer is connected. Service mode only stays active for 24 hours before
automatically being disabled, and every time it is enabled, it generates a unique access
code, preventing any unwanted access after you use this feature.
