Purpose

The purpose of this Process is to define the process for transporting roles.

Scope

This Process covers transporting roles to SAP environment.


Responsibility

The Basis & Security Team is responsible for creating the transport requests and releasing them. The BASIS team is
responsible for importing the transport requests into the requested systems.

Process

The following are the steps that must be followed in order to transport a role in the SAP R/3 systems. The steps for the
responsible person are:

1. The BPO fills up the Role Change request form and send it to Level 1 Security Team and also creates a HP
Helpdesk trouble ticket.
2. The Level 1 Solution Support team assigns the ticket to a Level 3 Basis Team.
3. The Level 3 Basis Team builds / modifies the roles as requested and Unit Tests them to verify that the changes
made work at the minimum level.
4. The Basis Team creates the transport request and transport proposal to move the role to QA system for testing.
5. The Security team communicates to the user that the role has been imported into the QA system and requests to
perform further testing in the designated client in the QA system.
6. If there are issues with the role, the user execute the transaction /nSU53 and communicates the same to the
Level 3 Security team representative via email at sapbasis@jspl.com
7. The Security team follows steps from 1 to 3 till the role is built to the satisfaction of the user and is accepted by
the user.
8. The user requests the Security team to transport the role to QA by sending a email to sapbasis@jspl.com and
the concerned manager for approval.
9. The Security team receives the approval to transport the role and releases the change request by creating a
transport proposal.
10. The Security team sends an email request to the BASIS team at sap_transports@dhl.com and the appropriate
approvers requesting them to transport the role.
11. The Approver approves the transport and imports the role into the target systems and informs the security team.
12. The security team informs the user that the role has been transported into the requested systems.

13. The user tests the role in the QA system by performing both negative and positive testing
14. The business team signs off on the role and informs the security team through an email sapbasis@jspl.com
saying so.
15. The user requests the security team to move the transport to production
16. The security team creates another transport proposal requests for an approval to move the role to Production
17. The Approver approvers the transports and imports the transport into production
18. The Approver imports the roles and informs the security team.
19. The security team communicates to the user that the role has been transported to production.
20. The Level 1 Security Administrator will update the HP Helpdesk ticket and close the issue
