1 PRECAUTIONS
Care must be taken when replacing parts. Incorrect replacement could affect the performance of the
steering system and result in a driving hazard.
The vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) which includes a driver side airbag.
Failure to carry out service procedures in the correct sequence may unexpectedly deploy the SRS and
cause serious injuries. Furthermore, if a mistake is made in servicing the SRS, it may fail to operate when
required.
Before servicing (including installation, removal, inspection or replacement of parts), read the SRS
section's "Precaution"
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to
prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE:
When removing the steering pad, do not pull the
airbag wire harness.
CAUTION:
When handling the airbag connector, do not
damage the airbag wire harness.
NOTICE:

Do not push the claw with excessive force as
damage may occur
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the
steering wheel.
NOTICE:
Make sure that the wire harness is not
caught on anything.
e. Remove the hood lock control cable lever and fuel lid control cable lever.
Remove the 3 bolts and pull out the steering column together with the steering sliding w/ coupling
yoke.
