Introduction

As time goes by, research accumulates as new studies and discoveries are made. Aiming for
quality, numerous studies are made in order to be able to elevate the quality of life of the
people, be it in terms of technology or in healthcare. Researchers contribute endlessly to
available information, most even reaching the public’s access, the internet. The information
made available by the primary sources, the researchers, is indeed up to date and original if
when compared with the other sources. The important thing to do in the search for information
is to assess whether the information given is of quality or is credible. For researchers, it is
necessary that we are equipped with the skills to be able to assess and evaluate the information
that is made available to us in order for us to create the best output possible.
Conclusion
It is important to note that the information that is made available to us through the internet is
also authored by people too. With this, lapses can occur and as previously discusses,
information from primary sources are still free to be interpreted and even utilized in order to
create better information. However, before we can even reach that stage, there is the standing
condition that is whether the information that you have just collected is even of quality or not
in order to match it with your gathered information. This is in relation to the need to maintain a
quality in gathering information. Also, the steps discussed are a vital part in making the
information that you will be formulating credible.
With a little knowledge, we are already able to assess whether information is reliable or not.
Simply by checking for sources, and checking if the sources are reliable. It can be also checked
by checking the author to see if the author is reliable or not in relation to the information,
he/she has contributed.
With the assessment tools however, we are able to separate the whole of reliable information,
into information that we can use or we may not use. With the provided criteria, we are able to
further evaluate whether the reliable information collected is of quality, solely basing on the
tools provided to us e.x. the “Protocol for Research Assessments in the Netherlands”.
In the search for information, evaluating whether the information is genuine is one thing,
however, on a higher level, it is also important to evaluate whether the information is of quality
or not. In a sense, this is the third step considering the first is looking for information. The
second is evaluating whether the information is true or not. And the third, the assessment of
the literature, is where you decide whether the information is of quality or not.
