PLEASE CONTINUE ON TO THE NEXT PAGE TO SEE MORE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT
THIS WEEK
READING – For reading this week, our focus is on Fairy Tales and Fables, and comparing them to
fractured or alternative versions. Please continue having your child read from RAZ kids. If you would like
alternative books for your child to read, please watch Mrs. Puzzuoli’s video about how to access Epic
Books for free until the end of June:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWCyJk62ZIY&feature=youtu.be

They can respond to these books instead in their notebooks if you think they need a break from RAZ.

MATH – Please continue having your child practice math on ZEARN and HAPPY NUMBERS. It is
imperative that they continue to practice using these websites over the summer so they are caught up
and ready for 3rd grade math instruction. Note that there are only 2 Math activities this week

WRITING – For writing this week we are going to write our ALL ABOUT _______ books. Since we are
supposed to be studying plants and insects and how they depend on each other in science, I thought our
topics should be about insects: specifically Honeybees, Spiders, Ladybugs, or Butterflies. Please have
your child choose 1 to write about. They are to do their research using PebbleGO and National
Geographic Kids under the student links on our Media Center’s webpage. I’ve included writing paper to
create their books, but they can use lined paper too. Just use a different sheet for each “chapter” like a
real book does. We usually spend weeks creating these books, so just have your child do the best they
can this week. We will have a ZOOM meeting on Monday at 12:00 pm so I can discuss this with them.

SCIENCE – Our last science unit is Life Science and its topic is plant and animal relationships. Since we
would have been studying how plants and insects depend on each other, I sent along to you an e-reader
on honeybees and pollination. You and your child do not have to read it all at once (it is kind of long).
Spend a few days reading over and discussing it together. Finally, just like we did with the last recycled
project, have your child create a “litter bug” with recycled materials around the house. They need to
write one paragraph describing their bug…where is lives, what is eats, physical features, etc. I sent along
a PDF with general directions and suggestions on how to complete this project. Have fun!

Packet work continues as well. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, or if your child
needs addition support from me. 

Have a Wonderful Week!
