1. ¿What event convinced Netflix to switch to a cloud-based service.
The motivation of Netflix to move into the cloud came from a database corruption
that they experienced in August of 2008. They on few days have problems with
shipping discs tour DVD customers, at that time they realized that going forward
what they really needed it is another system more tolerant that would not be privy
to failures like this.

AWS was at that time as it is right now a clear leader in the cloud space and had
the vast capacity that Netflix would actually.

2. ¿What is Chaos Monkey and why is it important for Netflix and its use of
AWS?
Chaos Monkey is a service, which identifies groups of systems and randomly
terminates one of the systems in a group. The service operates at a controlled
time. This only operates during business hours. In most cases they have designed
their applications to continue working when a peer goes offline, but in those special
cases they want to make sure there are people near to resolve an learn for any
problems.

The scalability especially for streaming service like Netflix, which has been growing
tremendously over the past few years, is critical, for Netflix it´s important be able to
add thousands of servers and terabytes of storage at minutes notice in the past
one they had a priority critical encoding tasks in front of them, they would
sometimes spin up many thousands of server and complete the tasks within a
matter of hours or a few days and then spin a down laughter they don’t longer need
it. The level of reliability by more than an order of magnitude reducing the
complexity of running in both the data center and in the cloud was a big part of that
but using redundant services like multiple availability zones has helped us achieve
that higher level of availability. On this way, they get the both benefits of higher
efficiency and higher availability
3. ¿Why is it important for Netflix that AWS has multiple availability
regions.

Netflix is an international company it is helpful for they leverage the global regions
that AWS provides so wherever happen to be any one can enjoy with the benefits
of the Netflix product.

The elasticity of the cloud allows you to add thousands of virtual servers and
petabytes (millions of gigabytes) of storage space in minutes, which is why this
expansion has been possible. On January 6, 2016, Netflix expanded its service to
more than 130 new countries, becoming a truly global Internet television network.
Being able to use multiple regions in the AWS cloud, spread throughout the world,
allows to dynamically change sites and expand the capacity of our global
infrastructure. This can create a better streaming experience for Netflix members,
no matter where they are.

4. ¿Do you watch TV or movies on Netflix? ¿Have you encountered

varying quality of service at different times of day.

Yes, if we see films in Netflix, and even series that presents and is very remarkable
the standard quality in which it increased for the images and the possibility of
seeing from different places and at different times of the day without interruption
whatsoever. It is reflected the improvement in connections and other services that
Netflix offers.
