Abandoning the use of fossil fuels - a strategic course for humanity

The economic recession is beginning, and now no one has any doubt that the
consequences will be even more tangible than in 2008. Despite the tragedy
of the situation with the spread of the coronavirus covid-19, it cannot be said
that it alone is the cause of the recession. The inflated “bubble” in the stock
market even before the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic required
“letting out air”, and the coronavirus was a tragic but real reason for such a
correction.

The crushing fall in demand and prices for hydrocarbons puts in an extremely
difficult situation not only on the fossil fuel market and traditional energy,
but also alternative energy: this is primarily true for companies that built a
business on the development of solar and wind power. If even before the
recession, with stable hydrocarbon prices, solar and wind power were
subsidized by an overwhelming number of states, since they were not able to
compete with the prices of electricity from burning fossil fuels, now the
recession puts a large number of
states on the verge of survival or even bankruptcy. Given that it is currently
difficult to predict when the crisis will end, we can confidently say now that in
such conditions, countries weakened by the economic downturn will not be
able to solve environmental problems and subsidize alternative energy. Even 2-
3 months ago, environmental issues occupied the entire media space, but now
environmentalists mostly care only for themselves, although optimistic
statements have appeared in the press about transparent and clean water in
Venice, and a decrease in CO2 levels in large cities. You should not exaggerate
the significance of these temporary phenomena, life has practically stopped
and half the world is in quarantine.

The course to reject the use of fossil fuels is a strategic course for humanity.
Anyone who stands and develops in such difficult conditions will determine the
future energy policy and influence the political situation in the world. Currently,
oil and gas are the priority positions of international politics. The struggle for
the possession of these resources and for their markets determines the policies
of many countries.

If we consider the prospects for the development of renewable energy

sources, unfortunately, it is impossible to call solar and wind generation the
real face of the energy industry of the future, even despite their significant
share in the generated energy right now. Energy-dependent energy, even
taking into account the fact that energy storage systems are appearing on the
market, is a direction without real chances for the future in the energy sector,
no matter what arguments its supporters bring and invested in these areas of
the business structure.

Market competition both between countries and individual enterprises for

reducing production costs and increasing labor productivity has always existed.
The lower the production costs, the more competitive the enterprise or
company. The energy industry is also subject to market laws. As you know,
large losses of electricity occur in power lines, and if the solar power plant
produces direct current, which needs to be converted to alternating current for
transportation to the consumer, and then again converted to direct current to
power electrical appliances, then the losses increase even more. Therefore,
reducing losses in power lines will increase the competitiveness of not only
power generating stations, but also consumers will be able to get electricity at
lower prices, which will lead to a reduction in production costs for industrial
consumers. For example, in order to increase the competitiveness of the
German economy, Germany is fighting for the Nord Stream-2 gas
