1. In your thinking, what qualities must prevail in every family to make it a real
contributory factor to nation building?
- A family should know how to follow laws promulgated by the government. Each
member of the family should not engage on petty crimes such as drug
addiction/pushing, robbery, and other illegal acts. Paying taxes is also an economic
obligation that a family should be aware of.
2. How can the family be viewed as a system? Explain how it functions as a system. Show
the interrelationships of its components.
- As a natural social structure, the family unit functions out of the complexity of its
own set of processes, problems and properties. Similar to other operational systems,
the family unit is structured in a way that doesn't allow any of its members to
function completely on his own. As a result of this, each member of the unit
influences and affects every other part of his social network like any other social
system.
3. How does the family influence the development of the personality of every individual
member? Discuss your answer.
- All the proper values should start at home. Whatever a child sees on the acts of the
adults seemed to be "what should be" when not properly guided. Adults too should
learn on the actions of their children on some manner in order for them to provide
better ways of bringing up their children. The development of a personality of a child
is very crucial for there is no one to blame when a child grew up irresponsible but
only their family.
4. How would you characterize family?
- We are a middle class family. We tend to manage to spend less and to spend more
rationally. Technically, we have close ties with one another and as well as to our

matrilocal. Factors of choice may include financial stability, relationship status, and
environmental conditions.

produce the kind of children expected in your society.

knowledge plan, give birth, raise, and provide for children. The parenting process
includes protecting, nourishing, and guiding the child. Thus, interaction between the
parent and the child should be strengthen through the life span in order to produce
a good promising citizen of the society.
10. In the Philippines, how is kinship system developed? Explain how kinship by rituals is
performed.
- Philippine kinship uses the Generational system to define family. Within common
typologies, the Philippine system is one of the most simple classificatory systems of
kinship compared to the complex U.S. kinship system. The literal genetic
relationship, or whether the person being addressed is in the actual bloodline or not,
is often overridden by the desire to show proper respect that is due in the Philippine
culture to age and the nature of the relationship, which are considered more
important.
11. Discuss the role played by the compadre and compadrazgo system in the development
of kinship system.

body image, work in conjunction with other factors to escalate obesity, create fear, and
increase aggressive and anti-social behaviors if exposure is unmonitored and unlimited.

Filipino family?
17. What causes the close ties among members of the Filipino family? How is this affected
by socio-economic insecurities?
- Compared to other countries in the world, family ties among Filipinos are the closest
and strongest. Children are allowed to stay beyond legally adult age until they marry
and have their own families. In such cases, the children contribute to the upkeep of
the family and do not depend totally on their parents. The elderly are not
abandoned, but cared for even until death. Those busy with gainful activities in their
businesses or as employees who may not have much time to care for the former can
find the necessary upkeep for them.
