Challenges of Millennials in HRM :

We all know, Millennials are the people born between mid 1980s and early 2000s. The advantage of
Millennials in Human Resouce Management is that, they can undergo almost any sort of challenges.

The millennials should set up a purpose and goal of their career. It will boost up their mind. In most
cases it is seen that they get frustrated of working at the very beginning of their worklife. Which results
in a less efficiency of work.

They are pretty much involved in technologies. They are grown up in the world of smartphones, internet
etc and other technological advancements. In short they are Tech Savvy. Being more wired that any
other generations, they can easily utilize the technological advancements more than other generations.
Millennials can take advantages of being addicted to their own devices. They have a huge benefit in
research purpose, works on Social Medias in which they are more or less sank.

Millennials have the capacity to manage more workload than any other generations. They need to be
patient and work with full attention. Developing skills is very important for them. This might help them
to work more efficiently. Therefore, they should always try to learn new skills. One of the most seen
problems of the millennials is, they lose patience very easily, which make stops them from being
successful.

Surviving in the middle of excessive workplace politics is a challenge for the millennial, which most of
them fails to survive. These politics result in illegal promotion, demotion and even lose of job. It occurs
when employee was recruited through the reference of upper level employee such as managers, CEOs,
Assistant Managers etc. They misuse their reference in most cases for promotions and higher salaries.
Millennials need to survive in this situation. Otherwise, they are going to be fired.

Millennials have too much of unnecessary attitudes, which stop them from proceeding futher in the
work life. They disrespect people who are at higher post than them. And the upper level managers take
necessary steps and in worst case, they are fired. They need to be respectfull with their seniors in the
work place. They should stop showing attitudes. Otherwise, it will be hard for them to survive.

Frequent change of jobs is a very known problem of the MIllennials. They get bored of a work very
easily, therefore they shift from one job to other very frequently. They are not aware of the fact that,
continuing working under one firm, slowly leads to promotion and better salaries. Thus, a better life
style. They should be patient and work sincerely.

Managing time is a challenge for Millennials now a days. They are so much into their personal activities
that, they are often late at their works. They mostly wake up late because of sleeping late at night. This
is a very common scene for the millennials. They take more time than estimated to complete a
particular task. They should over this problem of them and proceed with more sincerety.

Being trained properly is an important thing to do, for the Millennials. In most cases it is seen that,
Millennials does not continue till the end of training period. They do the training for few days and backs
off from the job. That is may be because, most of the time they are not paid for the training. They need
to be more patient while they are being trained. And the firms should try to encourage the trainees to
do their training efficiently. And again, it is also seen that, the trainers does not train the trainees
perfectly. Which results in a very inefficient performance by the employee. The millennial needs to
undergo this challenge successfully.

In case of a female employees, facing pay gaps is a common sight. We often see that male employees
are paid more than the females employyes. Which results in discourangement of the female employee.
The millennials should be able to cope up with this sort of situation. They often feel offended and back
off from their jobs. They need to overcome this type of challenges. Ensuring their own safety is also a
kind of challenge. It refers to the legislation that is intended to promote the safety and well being of
people while they are engaged in paid work. This legislation aims to protect workers from occupational
hazards as well as injuries and fatalities at work. Sometimes people face discrimination in the workplace
because of their disability, race, gender, sexual orientation etc. Workers may also face discrimination
because of belonging to more than one category. So a gender pay gap which gives lower wages to
women than men is even greater for women with disabilities compared to able-bodied men. These
issues should be overcome.

Workplace culture is also an important thing for Millennials. They should have the capabilities to adapt
themselves to the workplace culture for better working experience. But in most cases it is seen that,
they quit because of the adaptation issues. Therefore, they should bring out the courage to adjust in
different workplace cultures and get things done accordingly.

Fullfulling any sort of commitment is another challenge for the millennials. It is seen that, Millennials fail
to keep commitments. That occurs usually because of their personal works. They are seen not be able to
balance work / life. They should try to balance work / life from this very age. Therefore, in future they
shall be able to do the same more effectively.

Millennials always expect higher salaries. And as a beginner they hardly get higher salaries until and
unless their post is of higher rank. Therefore, they start but they hardly continue the job. Even if they do,
they are frustrated. They need to overcome this type of problems. They should be satisfied with what
salaries they get. With a hope that, they are going to get higher salaries based on their performance.
Better performance, better salaries.
