Microsoft Outlook Error Codes 

Outlook and Outlook Express both use the same error codes when a problem occurs.

The error window contains a lot of information about what went wrong, however in most cases you will be just looking for the
error code which is listed at the very end of the message.

Most other error codes you encounter are generally caused by a virus scanner or firewall. Sometimes disabling these to test
will show it as the cause of the issue, in rare cases you will actually need to uninstall the program. Make sure you have a
copy of the program (or alternative) to reinstall before uninstalling

General Errors

1.1 0x800CCC80 - Authentication Methods unsupported by server

1.2 0x800CCC00 - Authentication did not load
1.3 0x800CCC03 - User already connected
1.4 0x800CCC05 - Not connected to server
1.5 0x800CCC0A - Message download incomplete
1.6 0x800CCC0B - Server or maildrop is busy
1.7 0x800CCC0D - Cannot locate server
1.8 0x800CCC0E - Cannot connect to server
1.9 0x800CCC0F - Connection closed
1.10 0x800CCC10 - Address not known on server
1.11 0x800CCC11 - Mailing list not known on server
1.12 0x800CCC12 - Unable to send Winsock request
1.13 0x800CCC13 - Unable to read Winsock reply
1.14 0x800CCC14 - Unable to initialise Winsock
1.15 0x800CCC15 - Unable to open Windows Socket
1.16 0x800CCC16 - User account not recognised
1.17 0x800CCC17 - User cancelled operation
1.18 0x800CCC18 - Logon attempt failed
1.19 0x800CCC19 - Connection timeout
1.20 0x800CCC1A - Unable to connect using SSL

POP3 Errors

2.1 0x800420CB - Mail cannot be stored on server

2.2 0x8004210A - The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server
2.3 0x8004210B - The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server.
2.4 0x800CCC90 - Client response invalid
2.5 0x800CCC91 - Invalid user name or user not found
2.6 0x800CCC92 - Password not valid for account
2.7 0x800CCC93 - Unable to interpret response
2.8 0x800CCC94 - STAT Command required
2.9 0x800CCC95 - No messages on server
2.10 0x800CCC96 - No messages marked for retrieval
2.11 0x800CCC97 - Message ID out of range

SMTP Errors

3.1 0x800420C8 - Message could not be opened

3.2 0x800CCC60 - Invalid response
3.3 0x800CCC61 - Unknown error code
 3.4 0x800CCC62 - Syntax error returned
3.5 0x800CCC63 - Parameter syntax incorrect
3.6 0x800CCC64 - Command not implemented
3.7 0x800CCC65 - Improper command sequence
3.8 0x800CCC66 - Command not implemented
3.9 0x800CCC67 - Command not available
3.10 0x800CCC68 - Mailbox is locked and busy
3.11 0x800CCC69 - Mailbox not found
3.12 0x800CCC6A - Error processing request
3.13 0x800CCC6B - "User mailbox is known - but mailbox not on this server"
3.14 0x800CCC6C - No space to store messages
3.15 0x800CCC6D - Storage limit exceeded
3.16 0x800CCC6E - Invalid mailbox name syntax
3.17 0x800CCC6F - Transaction failed
3.18 0x800CCC78 - Unknown sender (Incorrect Reply-To address)
3.19 0x800CCC79 - Server rejected recipients
3.20 0x800CCC7A - No sender address specified
3.21 0x800CCC7B - No recipients specified

NNTP Errors

4.1 0x800CCCA0 - News server response error

4.2 0x800CCCA1 - Newsgroup access failed
4.3 0x800CCCA2 - LIST command to server failed
4.4 0x800CCCA3 - Unable to display list
4.5 0x800CCCA4 - Unable to open group
4.6 0x800CCCA5 - Group not on server
4.7 0x800CCCA6 - Message not on server
4.8 0x800CCCA7 - Message header not found
4.9 0x800CCCA8 - Message body not found
4.10 0x800CCCA9 - Unable to post to server
4.11 0x800CCCAA - Unable to open next message
4.12 0x800CCCAB - Unable to display date
4.13 0x800CCCAC - Unable to display headers
4.14 0x800CCCAD - Unable to display MIME headers
4.15 0x800CCCAE - Invalid user or password

RAS/DUN Errors

5.1 0x800CCCC2 - RAS/DUN not installed

5.2 0x800CCCC3 - RAS/DUN process not found
5.3 0x800CCCC4 - RAS/DUN error returned
5.4 0x800CCCC5 - Connectoid damaged or missing
5.5 0x800CCCC6 - Error getting dial settings

Winsock Errors

6.1 0x800CCC40 - Network subsystem is unusable

6.2 0x800CCC41 - Windows Sockets cannot support this application
6.3 0x800CCC43 - Bad address
6.4 0x800CCC44 - Unable to load Windows Sockets
6.5 0x800CCC45 - Operation now in progress

IMAP Errors

7.1 0x800CCCD1 - Login failed

7.2 0x800CCCD2 - Message tagged
7.3 0x800CCCD3 - Invalid response to request
7.4 0x800CCCD4 - Syntax error
7.5 0x800CCCD5 - Not an IMAP server
7.6 0x800CCCD7 - Recovery error
7.7 0x800CCCD8 - Incomplete data
7.8 0x800CCCD9 - Connection not allowed
7.9 0x800CCCDB - User ID has changed
 7.10 0x800CCCDC - User ID command failed
7.11 0x800CCCDD - Unexpected disconnect
7.12 0x800CCCDF - Unable to authorize client
