• This specification shall be interpreted in accordance with MSRR0000


• Inspection and testing procedures shall be in accordance with BS.S100 Sections 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 unless this
specification overrides
• Laboratory approval and control procedures are given in MSRR9951
• Machining of test pieces to MSRR9968
• The material shall be overall dressed
• For non-classified parts only, Bars and Forgings to substitute specifications BS.S130 (EEA) and AMS5646 (ECN)
may be used instead of material to Material Number 20 and Material Number 30 of this specification subject to the
following extra requirements. For AMS5646 the tensile requirements of Material Number 20 shall be met.
No concession or production permit action is required. MSRR procedural control documents are not applicable.
For the final condition of use the relevant Material Number of the MSRR shall be used.
For engine name plates and labels only MSRR9519 (EBZ) may be used in lieu of this specification.
The release note shall state that a substitution has been made.

(a) The non-machined surfaces of finally heat treated forgings shall be descaled using either of the following methods:

The property requirements need not be carried out for the release of Forgings and Rings, provided that the hardness tests on the
forgings or rings and the steel manufacturers tensile test piece comply with the requirements of the material specification.

Parts affected are all forgings other than critical forgings. In certain instances, a relaxation on critical parts may be permitted as
agreed with the Rolls Royce Laboratories and as shown on the relevant Method of Manufacture Data Sheet.
