La primera unidad que cubriremos en este nivel es la UNIT 4

The Topic is : DESCRIBING PLACES (cities, neighbourhoods, houses, places of work.)

The Vocabulary: parts of the house, places in the city, elements(furniture) in the kitchen, in
the living room in the bedroom and the bathroom.

The Grammar item to describe places is :

THERE IS when you describe ONE element (SINGULAR)

THERE ISN¨T the negative form (SINGULAR TOO)

THERE ARE when you describe TWO or MORE elements. (PLURAL)

THERE AREN¨T the negative for plural

LOOK at this description of my house:

My house is in Versalles. It´s a beautiful house, not big and not small: medium-size. There
is a garden in the front and there is a patio ate the back. There are a lot of plants and
flowers in the garden but there aren´t any plants in the patio. There are two big
bedrooms: one for my daughters and one for me and my husband. There is a bathroom
but there isn´t a toilet. There is a big living room and a medium-size kitchen

I love my house

For the Singular we use: THERE IS A/AN .......

THERE ISN¨T A / AN.....

For the plural we use:

THERE ARE ... (two,four or any number) There are two bedrooms

THERE ARE SOME ...... There are some some plants.

THERE ARE A LOT OF........ There are a lot of flowers in the garden.

THERE ARENT ANY......

A and AN are for singular only

The number, some and any are for plural only

SOME is always affirmative and plural.

Any is always negative and pural.

For questions you do what you usually do with the verb TO BE: you change the order.

IS THERE A......? Yes, there is. No, there isn´t

ARE THERE ANY.....?Yes, there are. No, there aren´t

How many ........... are there in your house? There are.......
