Three moral issues faced by society especially during the COVID -19 pandemic:

1. Fake News
2. Disobedience
3. Corruption

1. Fake news – As of today, especially that we are facing in the crisis moment, fake news is
everywhere, if you are not strong enough to stand firm what you believe is right then you
will become a victim. We must take account on what is coming out from our mouth
consider what we believe and not to spread misinformation that might potentially harm
others. In our current issue right now covid-19 I can see to it that temptation, fake news
and lies are everywhere. Peer pressure can be strong.
If people around you are lying, you may feel pressured to lie too. In the book of
(Proverbs 12:22) says that, the LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are
truthful. The devil is the ―father of lies‖
The Bible’s first recorded lie was when Satan misquoted God to Eve (Genesis 3:1).
Jesus may have been referring to that when he confronted a group of Jews and said
they belonged to their father, the devil. He then said the devil was the father of lies.
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He
was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.
When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John
8:44)
—. And Ephesians 4: 25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE
of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another. And in Exodus 20 in
the Old Testament we have the ten commandment – No. 8 is ―Thou shalt not bear false
witness against thy neighbor.‖ The Eighth Commandment condemns lying. Because
God is regarded as the author of all truth, the Church believes that we are ought to
honor the truth. The most obvious way to fulfill this commandment is not to lie.
Therefore, we must do the following
 Talk like Christ
 Walk and act like Christ
 Look like Christ
We must imitate Jesus Christ, because He set a good example for us to follow. We
Christians should be passionate about the truth because we follow the One who
is the Truth (John 14:6) That means not only holding to truth intellectually, but
living it out day by day. So, we do not lie nor forward fake news to others, as
Christians we want to live a life that is pleasing to God. We see God through
Jesus thus we look up to Him not only during crisis, Hardship, struggles etc.
and we must seek for His guidance, to lead and walk into the right path. Jesus is
the perfect embodiment of morals and should be our prime role model. He
guides us through the right paths with His true teachings. In the gospel Jesus
teaches us how to act in order to achieve eternal life with our Heavenly Father.
How to avoid suffering, ward off temptation, how to sacrifice for love, to accept,
heal to forgive. To the present Jesus continues to do this for us in the Eucharist
celebration. The scriptures reach out to us to follow His example.

Describe Jesus as the moral norm:

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end. He is the Ultimate
Moral Norm because He is the Way, the truth and the life, it is through following
His footstep that we are worthy to be called the children of God. The bible stated
in the book of (John 1:1) In the beginning was the word, and the word was with
God and the word was God. The word become flesh and dwelt among us, and
we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace
and truth.

2. Disobedience – It is so sad, that many are disobeying the law which is being
implemented by the government during this pandemic in which it is for our own good. I
can see, that some are doing parties while it is ECQ, some are doing their gambling like
cards, some goes out without quarantine pass, some didn’t wear their masses they does
not care, while some other people out there are extending their hands, praying to God
that everything will be okay. In my part as a student it is not really easy, to be in ECQ
while doing an online class because we live a simple life, and our place has very poor
network. But I believe that this virus happened for a reason, therefore I must stand firm
that God is in Control and He is working. In the book of (Romans 13:1-5) Everyone must
obey the authority of the government. It is God who gives the authority to rule. The
people who rule have received their authority from God. So, anyone who refuses to
obey that authority is refusing to obey God. That person will receive the proper
punishment.
People who do good things do not need to be afraid of the rulers. Only people who do
bad things should be afraid of the rulers. Do you want to live and not be afraid of the
rulers? Then you must do good things and they will respect you. Rulers are God's
servants. They help you to do good things. But if you do bad things, then you should be
afraid of them. They really do have authority to punish people. On God's behalf they
punish people who do bad things. So, you must obey those people who rule. You must
obey them not only so that they do not punish you. But you must obey them also
because it is right to obey them. And you yourselves know that it is right.
(Hebrews 13:17) Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over
your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not
with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

how prayer and the Sacraments help our moral development:

Prayer is the most powerful weapon that we can have in our daily life, because it is
through prayer that we can connect to our Ever-lasting Abba Father. Through prayer that
we can empower our self to stand firm with the truth. The sacraments help us improve in
our daily life, because it is through the sacraments of Jesus Christ that reminds us what
is morally wrong and wright, by the help of His Holy spirit. The prayerful person is one
who will grow in moral consciousness. When we pray, we build a deeper relationship
with God and it gives us opportunity to discern and know His will. When we pray, we
nourish and empower our soul, because it is by prayer that we connect and
communicate with Abba, and when we pray every chain will be broken.
Jesus prayed to remain in the Father's will. So as Christ imitators it is necessary to
remain in His will also. Within this kind of prayer, our self-deceptions, foolish ways and
self-centeredness will be broken.

3. Corruption – corruption is everywhere, it is sad, but it is the reality, during this pandemic
some small stores take the advantage to overprice goods and more, I can see to it that
we are living in a corrupt world which will only become more corrupt and greedier. It is
important that we know the truth, because the truth will set us free, Jesus came to set us
free. Yes, temptation is around us, but if we know who we really are in Christ, then we
will not fall into temptation, Jesus Christ was also tempted by the devil during His Fast.
So do we.
Let me tell you this. During the last days of this world, there will be times of great trouble.
2 People will love only themselves, and they will want lots of money for themselves.
They will be proud and they will say how great they are. They will insult other people.
They will not obey their parents. They will not thank anyone that helps them. They will
not respect anything that is good. 3 They will not be kind to other people, but they will
like to quarrel. They will tell lies to hurt other people. They will be unable to rule
themselves properly. They will be cruel, like wild animals. They will hate anything that is
good. People will turn against their friends. They will do silly things and not think
carefully about it. They will be sure that they are very important. They will not love God,
but instead they will only want to enjoy themselves. Those people will seem to be
serving God. But really, they refuse to accept God's power to help them. You must stay
away from people like that.
―Thou shalt not steal.‖
the Decalogue primarily reveals to us that God wants us to act justly and with charity in
our relationships with one another. In this way, we are able to live in communion with
God, who is just and loving. Specifically, the Seventh Commandment ―commands justice
and charity in the care of earthly goods and the fruits of men’s labor.‖ It forbids the unjust
taking or keeping of goods belonging to one’s neighbor and the wronging of another as it
regards his or her goods.
