Strong and Clean with LLWHS

ALEXANDRIA, VA— May 27, 2020. Learn & Live Wholestic Health

Services (LLWHS) is en route to make an impact among the Ethiopian

community in Northern Virginia with the addition of a new service to terminate

the opioid epidemic that launched on April 1, 2020. LLWHS is now accepting

patients to provide both medical and counseling assistance that ensures a safe

environment for all.

LLWHS is a nonprofit clinic that improves wellness in physical, psychological

and social relations among the East African community in Northern Virginia.

LLWHS is welcoming patients whose goal is to overcome opioid addiction

through Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) of Suboxone and group support.

Patients will be treated with MAT that will use the medication of Suboxone in

combination with counseling and behavioral therapies of peer support groups.

Patients can discuss their concerns and develop relationships with other patients

in the program. Faculty will provide weekly drug tests to ensure the patients are

staying clean.

MAT is the use of medication in combination with counseling and behavioral

therapies. This medical care is effective in the treatment of opioid addictions and

can assist people to recovery.

LLWHS will practice COVID-19 guidelines by requiring all patients and staff

members to receive a temperature screening upon arrival and to wear a face mask

at all times in the facility. Counseling assistance will be replaced with virtual

meetings in order to ensure that everyone remains 6 feet apart from one another.

Patients are required to come into the facility to receive a drug-test.

“This program will make an impact on the community, specifically the Ethiopian

community, as there is a stigma related to addiction within this group.” says

Naomi Daniels, clinical manager of LLWHS. “This program allows the patients

to understand that they are not alone and that there are other patients who are

from the same background that are struggling with the same issues.”
