Features:
o Anodized aluminum coating to protect against corrosion and wear
o Color coded for easy tool identification and use
Red = Imperial ropes and measurements.
Blue = Metric ropes and measurements.
o Convenient, easy to carry size, capable of measuring seven (7) different rope diameters.
o Imperial gauge (red) allows for full range of measurements: 3/8, 7/16, ½, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16 and ¾ inch.
o Metric gauge (blue) allows for full range of measurements: 8, 10, 11, 13, 16, 19 and 22 millimeter.
o Precision CNC machined and sized to ASME retirement criteria for wire rope.
o Gauge is also sized to proposed ASME standards for wire rope with rouge.
o Gauge face (side A) denotes original standard rope diameter to be tested.
o Gauge face (side B) denotes ASME minimum diameter criteria for rouge (proposed) and for wear.
o Straightforward design and use: As a universal go-no-go gauge, If a specific portion of wire that is suspected of wear (either normal or unfavorable), or rouging, simply place the gauge
slot for that particular original diameter, over the rope crowns on a straight section. If you suspect and are measuring for WEAR, the wire rope must insert fully to the apex of the gauge
slot in order to be considered to exceed ASME allowable criteria for wire rope retirement. If the rope will not enter the slot, the rope diameter is considered satisfactory for wear.
If you suspect and are measuring for ROUGING, the wire rope must insert completely crown-to-crown across the first segment of the gauge slot for that particular diameter in order to be
considered to exceed proposed ASME standards for wire rope with rouge. If the rope will not enter the first segment of the slot, the rope diameter is considered satisfactory for rouging.
This gauge provides an excellent means of ensuring compliance with ASME retirement criteria. If wear or rouging is suspected, contact the maintenance / service contractor and/or the
rope manufacturer for further analysis and determination of the rope integrity. Do not rely solely on this gauge.
