APHMEL - Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery & Engineering Limited was established on 1st September 1976 as a subsidiary unit of the
Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (APIDC), a Govt. of A.P. undertaking. In 1994, The Singareni Collieries Company
Limited a government company took over APHMEL as its subsidiary company. Since, the start of the company it has been producing
various products like Road header AM-50, Man riding car system, Belt and Chain conveyers, Idlers, Haulers, Jumbo drills, Lump
breaker, Roof bolts etc. It’s services are Design, Manufacturing, Supply, Erection and Commissioning of system or equipment, Repair
and Overhauling of Machinery. Supplies spare parts to machines and equipment.

2 03/05/2019 Visit to Drawing Department - Studying their previous part and assembly drawings.
3 04/05/2019 Visit to Marketing Department - Knowing the complete activity chart of the company and how they get work contracts.
4 06/05/2019 Visit to Process and Production planning department -Gained knowledge about how they design the route chart and operation chart.
5 07/05/2019 Visiting Material Planning department – Planning of material requirement for various operation done there.
6 08/05/2019 Visit to Quality control department - Knowing about various instruments they use for testing the input material and output product.
7 09/05/2019 Quality control department - Knowing how they test chemical composition of the input material and some ISO standards.
8 10/05/2019 Visit to Main stores – Knowing how they store and maintain the record of input and output material.
9 11/05/2019 Visit to Maintenance department – Scheduling maintenance for machines and repair for any break down machines.
10 13/05/2019 Visit to Light Machine shop – having a glance of lathe machines, milling machines, horizontal, grinding machine, slotting machine.
11 14/05/2019 Light Machine Shop - Seeing various operations performed on various machines like making chain sprockets using slotting machine;
boring, drilling, grinding operation of gear box housing; turning and facing operations etc.
12 15/05/2019 Visit to Heavy Machine shop - Various operations like steam turbine blades, boring of crane buckets, machining big structural frames
etc. Machines like double housing planner, horizontal boring machine, vertical turning and boring machine, radial drilling machine .
13 16/05/2019 Visit to Fitters and Tool crib section – Marking dimensions according to drawings and maintaining tool for different operations.
14 17/05/2019 Visit to fabrication section - Material preparation by various operations like profile gas cutting, dressing, grinding, drilling, shearing.
15 18/05/2019 Roll bending – A sheet metal is bent to form a drum by various operations like rolling bending, gas cutting, welding.
16 20/05/2019 Welding section – Knowing various welding techniques(like SMAW, TIG,MIG) and electrodes used for different operations.
17 21/05/2019 Visit to Assembly section - Studied various assembly drawings and saw the assembly of chain type conveyor belt.
18 22/05/2019 Assembly section – Assembly of gear box and its inspection.
19 23/05/2019 Assembly section - Assembly of reciprocating feeder and belt conveyor drive heads.
20 24/05/2019 Visit to Idlers section – Manufacturing of idlers of varying sizes for conveyer belts for coal mines.
21 25/05/2019 Idlers section – Knowing the parts involved in it and machining process required to complete the assembly.
22 27/05/2019 Coal Buckets repairs section – Overhauling of coal buckets.
23 28/05/2019 Freeze or Shrink fitting – Mainly used for fitting bushes and gears in shafts.
24 29/05/2019 Heat treatment section - Various heat treatment facilities provided are stress relieving furnace, gas carbonizing furnace, muffle
furnace. It is used for fitting shafts into gear wheel, stress relieving of rolled drums etc.
25 30/05/2019 Roof Bolts section -Roof bolts for reinforcing the mine roof in underground mining are manufactured by shearing, forging, threading.
