HSL is the pioneer Shipbuilding and Ship repair Yard functioning under the
Ministry of Defence. The Company is looking for dynamic and result oriented
executives with proven track record and professional competence for the following
posts.

1. GENERAL MANAGER (PRODUCTION) – 1 POST (GEN)

Graduate in Mechanical/Marine Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Naval


Architecture. Candidate should have in-depth experience in Shipbuilding/Ship Repair
and Construction of Naval Vessels. Knowledge of modern concepts of Naval
Shipbuilding, Marine Practices & Classification rules and regulations applicable for
Warships are preferred. Experience in liaisoning with various Marine Classification
Societies like Lloyds, ABS, IRS, other authorities like WOT/SOT and Certification
Authorities conducting Technical Audits like ISO etc., besides in-depth knowledge of
various sophisticated welding procedures/NDT Techniques etc., will be added
advantage. Commodore/Captain of select list from Indian Navy who has worked for
three years in Dockyard will also be eligible.

2. GENERAL MANAGER (PURCHASE & MATERIALS)- 1 POST (OBC)

A Graduate preferably in Mechanical/Marine Engineering/Electrical Engineering.


Candidate with specialization in Supply Chain Management (SCM) would be preferred.
Should be capable of independently handling all the relevant activities viz.,Vendor
development, instituting, operating and monitoring of performance based vendor
analysis, procurement of sophisticated Ship borne equipment of Naval Vessels. Sound
knowledge of Import Policy, Custom, FE Regulations and dealing with DGS&D, RBI
etc., is expected. Will be responsible for instituting latest Purchase & Material
Management Techniques and on-line Monitoring of inventory stocks & replenishment.
He should be familiar with e-tendering/e-procurement/e-commerce and ERP systems in
material management. Three years service in a Shipyard at senior position will be
preferred. Commodore/Captain of select list from Indian Navy who has worked for
three years in Dockyard will also be eligible.

3. GENERAL MANAGER (PERSONNEL) – 1 POST( OBC)


Candidate must be a Graduate in any discipline with Post Graduate Degree or
Diploma course of two years duration in HRM or MBA with specialization in HR. A
Degree in Law will be an added qualification. Should have held independent charge of
Personnel Management and Industrial relations functions in a large industrial
undertaking/Shipyard. He must be thoroughly conversant with modern concepts of
Personnel Management / Industrial Relations and be abreast of the latest trends in
Labour Legislations and practices. Experience in a Shipyard/Dockyard for atleast three
years and working knowledge of Telugu will be preferred. Commodore/Captain of
select list from Indian Navy who has worked for three years in Dockyard will also be
eligible.

4. GENERAL MANAGER (PRODUCTION PLANNING) – 1 Post (ST)


A Graduate in Mechanical/Electrical/Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture.
Candidates should have in depth experience in Ship building / Ship repairs especially in
Naval Warships / Submarines. Knowledge of modern concepts of Shipbuilding and
Marine practices is essential. Should possess at least 3 years experience in planning
department of a Shipyard or Naval yard covering all aspects of Planning, Scheduling,
Co-ordination, Control, PERT and ability to control and prevent time and cost over runs.
An experience in Estimation for preparation of Bids / Tendering Procedures / Contract
Negotiations etc, Knowledge of latest planning software/ techniques will be added
advantage. Commodore/Captain of select list from Indian Navy who has worked for
three years in Dockyard will also be eligible.

5. GENERAL MANAGER (SUBMARINE DESIGN) - 1 Post (SC)

A Graduate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Naval Architecture with


experience in Ship/Submarine is desirable. Commodore /Captain of Select list of Indian
Navy will be preferred. He should have adequate experience in operations/
maintenance of equipment systems of EKM Class Submarines. He should have the
knowledge of latest trends in Ship/Submarine design and construction techniques.
Experience of working in Shipyard / Dockyard and association with Warship Design will
have added advantage. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

6. DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER (SUBMARINE - ELECTRICAL) - 1 Post (GEN)

A Graduate in Electrical Engineering with experience in Submarine equipment is


desirable. Rank in Indian Navy: Commanders with 4 years or more seniority or Captain

(TS). He should preferably have adequate experience in operations /maintenance of


Electrical systems of EKM Class Submarines. He should have the knowledge of latest
trends in repairs / retrofitting techniques of major equipments and systems of
Submarines and should have at least two years of Dockyard/Shipyard experience.
Knowledge of Project Management, software techniques will have an added advantage.
Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

7. DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER (SUBMARINE-ENGINEERING)- 1 Post (GEN)

A Graduate in Mechanical Engineering/Marine Engineering with experience in


Submarine equipment refit is desirable. Rank in Indian Navy: Commanders with 4
years or more seniority or Captain (TS). He should preferably have adequate
experience in operations/maintenance of Engineering systems of EKM Class
Submarines. He should have the knowledge of latest trends in repairs / retrofitting
techniques of major equipments and systems of Submarines and should have at least
two years of Dockyard/Shipyard experience. Knowledge of Project Management,
software techniques will have an added advantage. Good communication and
interpersonal skills are essential.

8. DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER (SUBMARINE- HULL) - 1 Post (GEN)

A Graduate in Mechanical Engineering with experience in Submarine hull /


equipment refit is desirable. Rank in Indian Navy: Commanders with 4 years or more
seniority or Captain (TS). He should preferably have adequate experience in Hull
operations/maintenance of Warships/Submarines. He should have the knowledge of
latest trends in repairs / retrofitting techniques of submarines and should have Dockyard
experience of at least two years. Knowledge of Project Management, software
techniques will have an added advantage. Good communication and interpersonal
skills are essential.

OTHER CONDITIONS
(Applicable to GMs)
(i) Age – Below 50 years. However, the age limit may be relaxed by 5 years
in case of exceptionally qualified/ experienced candidates
(ii) Experience – Should have at least 20 years experience with not less than
6 years at senior managerial position of which 3 years should be in the
pay scale of Rs.36,600 –62,000 ( Rs.17,500-400-22,300- Pre-revised
scale) in PSUs with IDA pattern or equivalent scales.

(iii) Total emoluments at the minimum will be Rs.71,659/- in the GM Pay


scale of Rs.43,200-66,000. (Revised from 01.01.2007)

(Applicable to DGMs):

(iv) Age – Below 48 years. However, the age limit may be relaxed by 5 years
in case of exceptionally qualified/ experienced candidates
(v) Experience – Should have at least 16 years experience with not less than
3 years in the immediate lower grade in the pay scale of Rs.32,900 –
58,000 ( Rs.16,000-400-20,800- Pre-revised scale) in PSUs with IDA
pattern or equivalent scales.
(vi) Total emoluments at the minimum will be Rs.61,112/- in the DGM Pay
scale of Rs.36,600-62,000. (Revised from 01.01.2007)

9. MANAGER (ELECTRICAL) – 1 POST (OBC)


Graduate in Electrical Engineering from any recognized University. 12 Years
post qualification experience out of which 4 years in the immediate lower grade in
Shipyard/ large Industrial organization. Must be conversant with on board electrical
Systems in ships and possess good knowledge in understanding electrical drawings.
Working knowledge of computer applications with relevant software like Tribon,
CAD/CAM etc., will be an added advantage. The incumbent is required to work in shops
& on board ships and may be deployed for any other duties of the company as decided
by the management. Have good communication skills and be able to handle projects
independently.

10. MANAGER (TRAINING) – 1 Post (ST)


A Graduate in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering preferably with MBA. Should
have 12 years post qualification experience out of which 4 years in the immediate lower
grade. Should be able to assess the training needs of the organization and organize
suitable training and developmental activities. He must be conversant with latest training
methods and organize various statutory training programmes and handle the Training
department independently.

11. REGIONAL MANAGER (MUMBAI OFFICE & DELHI OFFICE) – 2 Posts (GEN)

Qualification Should be a graduate from a recognized University with preferred


Qualification of MBA
Experience Should have 12 years post qualification work experience out of

which at least 3 - 5 years in liaisoning and representing the


organization with various Govt/Quasi-Government Organizations /
Agencies and with various Government Ministries including
Defence. Local candidates will be preferred. Those working in
IHQ (MOD) Sena Bhawan and retired officers in the Rank of
Lieutenant Commander / Commander in Navy or equivalents
having experience in liaison works will have added advantage.
Age Below 40 years as on 01.12.2010
Emoluments Depending on the suitability / level of experience of candidates the
posts will be operated in the scale of Rs.24,900 – 50,500 (E3
grade) / Rs.29,100 – 54,500 (E4 grade). Minimum emoluments
are Rs.41,540.00/Rs.48,952.00 respectively. Post carries other
benefits like PF, Gratuity, Medical Reimbursement etc., as per
Company’s Rules.

12. MANAGER (PERSONNEL) - 2 Posts (1- Gen; 1 – OBC)

Candidate must be a Graduate in any discipline with Post Graduate Degree or


Diploma course of two years duration in HRM or MBA with specialization in HR. A
Degree in Law will be an added qualification. 12 Years post qualification experience out
of which 4 years in the immediate lower grade in a large Industrial organization. He
must be thoroughly conversant with modern concepts of Personnel Management /
Industrial Relations and be abreast of the latest trends in Labour Legislations and
practices. Working knowledge of Telugu is essential.

13. DEPUTY MANAGER (PURCHASE) – 1 POST (OBC)

A Graduate in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering preferably with MBA in Material


Management or equivalent. Should have 9 years post qualification experience out of
which 3 years in the immediate lower grade. Should be capable of independently
handling all the procurement activities connected with procurement of sophisticated
Ship borne machinery / equipment, infra structure and heavy engineering equipment
etc., and should be familiar with contract formulation as well as e-tendering / e-
procurement and ERP systems in material management. Those with sound knowledge
of import policy, Customs, FE Regulations and dealing with DGS&D, RBI etc., and
having experience in Development of Vendor Base indigenously & Globally, and
handling performance based vendor analysis will be preferred.

14. DEPUTY MANAGER (CORPORATE PLG & CONTRACTS) – 1 Post (OBC)

Graduate in Mechanical /Electrical Engineering from any recognized University. 9


Years post qualification experience out of which 3 years in the immediate lower grade in
Corporate Planning and dealing contractual matters in a Shipyard/large Industrial
organization. Should also have sound Techno – commercial experience in estimation
for preparation of bids, Knowledge of tendering procedures and contract negotiations,
Handling Guarantee Claims. Knowledge and experience in planning functions in a
Shipyard will be preferred.

15. DEPUTY MANAGER (NAVAL ARCHITECTURE) – 1 Post (GEN)

Degree in Naval Architecture with minimum 9 years post qualification experience


out of which 3 years in the immediate lower grade in Shipbuilding/Ship design.
Experience in liaisoning with classification societies like ABS, Lloyds, DNV, IRS & MMD
conducting surveys, Test & Trials, technical audits like ISO are preferable Knowledge
of various sophisticated welding procedures/NDT techniques are essential. Have good
communication skills and be able to handle projects independently. Knowledge of
current concepts of Shipbuilding, Marine practices, Design and Construction of Warship
will be added advantage. Good working knowledge of CAD/CAM Application and
Shipbuilding Software like Tribon etc. is preferable.

16. DEPUTY MANAGER(MARINE ENGG/ENGINEERING)- 2 Posts(1-OBC;1-GEN)


a) Deputy Manager (Marine Engineering) – 1 Post (OBC)
Graduate in Marine Engineering from any recognized University. 9 Years post
qualification experience out of which 3 years in the immediate lower grade in a
Shipyard/large Industrial organization. Knowledge of modern concepts in Shipbuilding,
Marine practices, classification rules and regulations pertaining to Ship Construction will
be an advantage. MOT 1st class/2nd class with sea experience will be preferred. Have
good communication skills and be able to handle projects independently.
b) Deputy Manager (Engineering) – 1 Post (GEN)
Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from any recognized University. 9
Years post qualification experience out of which 3 years in the immediate lower grade
in a Shipyard/large Industrial organization. Knowledge of modern concepts in Ship
Engineering practices, Design, construction, Repairs, Equipment Installation is essential
and knowledge of submarine is preferred. Working knowledge of computer applications
with relevant software requirements like Tribon, CAD/CAM etc., is required for day-to-
day Management and communication skills will be an added advantage. Service

personnel/Retired Naval Officers with required /sufficient experience on 877 EKM class
submarine will also be considered.

17. DEPUTY MANAGER (ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS) – 4 Posts (1-GEN;


2-SC;1-ST)
Graduate in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from any recognized University. 9
Years post qualification experience out of which 3 years in the immediate lower grade in
Shipyard/ large Industrial organization. Must be conversant with on board electrical
Systems in ships and possess good knowledge in understanding electrical drawings.
Working knowledge of computer applications with relevant software like Tribon,
CAD/CAM etc., will be an added advantage. Experience in liaisoning with classification

18. SENIOR ENGINEER ( PAINT TECHNOLOGIST ) - 1 Post (Gen)

Candidate must be a graduate in Paint Technology or a post Graduate in


Chemistry with specialization in Paint Technology or Chemical Engineering. 5 years
total experience out of which 3 years in the immediate lower grade for either in Paints
Division of a reputed National/ Regional/Test House or in organizations engaged in
Shipping/Shipbuilding/Ship Repairing etc., where strict quality control over the paints,
Surface preparation and paint application is developed, systematized and adopted.

The Candidates with knowledge for preparing Painting Schemes, technical


specifications, evaluating the technical offers and preparation of basic price comparative
statements etc as per IMO Standards will be added advantage. Experience in a
reputed Paint Manufacturing firm either in Production or Quality Control is desirable.
Experience in testing fuel-oil and lubricating oils and greases is an added advantage.

19. SENIOR ACCOUNTS OFFICER – 3 Posts (2- Gen; 1- OBC)

A Graduate with a pass in the final examination of the Institute of Chartered


Accountants of India/Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India. Should have 5
years post qualification experience out of which 3 years in the immediate lower grade in

a large Industrial organization. Exposure in funds management / taxation preferable.


Familiarity with computerized systems is desirable.

20. MEDICAL OFFICER – 1 POST ( 1PH-OH)


Candidate should have MBBS Degree and should complete compulsory
houseman-ship /internship. Preference will be given to those having Post Graduate
Degree / Diploma in General Medicine / Industrial Medicine / OB & Gynecology /
Radiology / Pediatrics. Candidates with experience as above in related field in large
hospital of repute will be preferred. Only lady Doctors will be taken in OB & Gynecology
discipline. The incumbent is required to work in Yard/residential colony in shifts
depending on requirement and reside only in Company’s township.

21. ACS TRAINEE / SECRETARIAL OFFICER – 1 Post (GEN)


Final passed candidates of Institute of Company Secretaries of India are
considered as ACS Trainee and those having one year post qualification experience will
be considered as Secretarial Officer at E1 level depending upon the suitability for the
post.

22. MANAGEMENT TRAINEES (HR) - 2 Posts (1-GEN;1-SC)

Should be a graduate in any discipline with Post Graduate Degree / Diploma


Course of two years duration in HRM or MBA in specialization in HR with minimum 60%
marks (in case of SC/ST candidates – 55%). A Degree in Law will be an added
qualification.

Should be a graduate in any discipline with Post Graduate Degree / Diploma


Course of two years duration in Material Management or MBA in specialization in

The person must be a graduate in any discipline and should possess good
command over English language with good Computer skills. Should have 4 years
working experience in Liaisoning with Government Agencies and reputed Organisations
and should be able to carryout correspondence independently. Working experience in
a Shipyard with liaisoning duties with Ministries will be preferred.
Age: Below 40 years as on 01.12.2010
GENERAL:
i) Relaxation of age and experience will be allowed as per Government Rules
for SC/ST/OBC/PH.

ii) Mere possession of the requisite qualification and experience will not confer
any right to be called for Test/interview. However, the Management reserves
the right to relax qualifications/experience/age in the case of exceptionally
experienced and qualified candidates.

iii) Candidates presently working in Government/Public Sector Undertakings or


Autonomous bodies should route their applications through proper channel or
else “No Objection Certificate” from the present Organization shall be
produced at the time of interview. Without “No Objection Certificate”, the
candidates will not be interviewed and accordingly no TA will be paid.

iv) The selected candidate for the posts of ACS Trainee/ Management Trainees
will have to executive a Bond to serve the company for a period of 4 years
after completion of Training period. They will be on probation for one year on
completion of training.

v) Candidates called for interview for posts S. No. 1 to 19 will be paid single to
and fro II AC Class Train fare by the shortest route. Candidates called for
interview for the post at S. No. 20, 25 and Secretarial Officer will be paid
single to and fro II sleeper class Railway fare by the shortest route. Out
