Experimental Study - LabVolt

Instructions (Refer to student manual for the procedure and requirement)

- Follow the procedure provided in the manual for each case

- Construct the circuit using virtual lab at lvsim.labvolt.com
- Use the metering window, phasor analyzer, … etc to perform reading as
instructed in the manual
- Take a snapshot for metering window and phasor analyzer at each stage of
your work to attach it to this report
- Phasor analyzer snapshot is required for all set up change and to verify the
three phase supply
- Provide the calculations which prove the result of your measurement
- Use the “Data Table” to implement the measures of as per the procedure
provided in the manual (E, I, P, T, n, … etc)
- You must be able to answer each question in the procedure and in review
sections
- Plot the graphs in LVsim by extracting data table (E-I ), (n-T),…
- Make three snapshot of your circuit from lvsim.labvolt.com at three different
stages and implement them in this report

Power measurement
Note to consider while working on lvsim.labvolt.com to successfully
implement the previous requires

In order to use Two-Wattmeter Method to measure power transfer so you may

connecte the first phase and the third phase to the current inputs (I1 and I2) in
LVDAC, also connect wires from the first phase and the third phase to voltage
inputs (V1 and V2).

Regulating Autotransformer can be used to control power transfer direction

and quantity along the transmission line.
To use the metering: define the following power meters: PQS1 (I1 and E1) and
PQS2 (I2 and E2) PQS3 (PQS1 + PQS2); this third power meter will give the
algebraic sum of the first two power meters and this reading is the Total Power
coming out from the first power station (or coming back to it)
You can use the other 2 voltage inputs (E3 and E4) and the current inputs (I3
and I4) to measure the Power on the side of the second station by using
additional Power Meters (PQS4, PQS5, and PQS6)

Generally your report and presentation must include the below items

Introduction

Here you introduce the problem, it is a brief about …………….. and

summarize what you have learned from teaching material of this course related
to your problem

Project objective, methodology, and working principles

Explain the main observation of this project, and aim of study. You can refer to
student manual to support your writing.

Project description and supportive tools

Explain the general framework for this experimental study and list all the used
tools and instrument (This section can be updated at the end of your study). If
you have referred to any other platform rather than lvsim.labvolt.com so you
need to implement it here and explain the features.

Experimental studies – LVSIM.labvolt

In this section implement your answer to all the question in the experiment
procedure (Technical writing – Technical reporting) and support your finding
by screenshot of the instrument used step by step with detailed data. Provide
also the table which has the extracted measure as instructed in previous section

Detailed calculations

Support your findings (metering / measured value (E,I,P,n,T,..etc)) by

performing calculations which prove the result of measurement.

Results, analysis and discussion – with supportive screenshot

Implement screenshot of your final circuit from lvsim.labvolt.com and the

corresponding measurement reading. Then summaries your finding and how
you achieve the project objective described earlier

Conclusion
A very brief conclusion

Reference
List all the reference you have used.
