Report for maintenance done on Incinerator Flue gas fan

Reason: Flue gas fan stopped for maintenance due to high vibrations and noise

Conditions found:
1 Foundation frame vibration absorbers found in bad condition

2 Wrong way of mounting and alignments of shaft with bearings

– Bearings with the housings mounted without original fixing pins and with inserted below
the housing, shim plate and washers for alignment

Shims added below Missing fixing pins on bearing housing

- Wrongly way of mounting bearings inside the housings - which can allow radial movement
of the shaft and cause friction between Impeller and diffuser

Locking nut location

We found both bearings with spacer rings. Correct mounting is with Spacer rings -2 pc must
be mounted only on the bearing to the impeller side, pulley side bearing free of spacer rings!
3. Probably due to old damage, we found the wall of suction side on fan casing bended, the
wall was probably cut off and re-welded and this cause miss -alignment between impeller
axis and diffuser axis , due to bended wall.

4. Funnel flange to the diffuser flange was mounted under tension and this also was helping
for misalignment between impeller and diffuser
Jobs done on Flue gas fan:
1 All vibration absorbers on the foundation frame were replaced with new and two additional
mounted on El. motor side.

2. New shaft with bearings complete and diffuser mounted (Removed from the new spare
one stored in Papeete ) Bearings housing model: SE 515-612 with bearings type mounted :
22215EK

- Bearings housings mounted with fixing pins on the basement without any shims inserted.
Lower housing to basement tighten 220 Nm and upper cover to the housing tighten with 80
Nm
-Locking nuts position should be between the bearings as per the picture below and first have
to be tightening the bearing to the Impeller side. Spacers 2 pcs mounted only on the bearing
close to the Impeller side

-Tighten torques for bearing housing

3. Adjusted clearance between Diffuser and impeller - 7mm, diffuser flange to the fan casing
fixed on the new drilled holes and on the bended place of casing added two additional peaces
of gasket.

New holes drilled and new nuts welded on internal side of the casing
4. Funnel flange to the diffuser flange was cut off and re-welded to align the holes of the
flanges and to avoid connection with any tension between funnel and diffuser flange.

5. New belts -3 pcs and shaft pulley mounted, new protection cover installed. El motor
bearings replaced. Repaired insulations and covers, all Flue gas fan painted.
